30 Bananas a Day!

I always thought vitamin C was very important for the body and to eat fruit with great amounts of vitamin C was really good for you. I was watching a video of Dr. Graham and he said too much vitamin C is bad and causes diaherra!!!  Now I'm all confused whats what??? Some one please explain!!!

you cannot get too much from eating whole foods, do you have a link to the video?

If you take enough of the powdered form of vit. C it will give you diarrhea but will still not be toxic or harmful in other ways other than the diarrhea.

oh okay thanks, ya, more does not equal better, it is all about ratios.  According the the Medical use of vit. C there is no overdosing of intravenous vit. C or lypospheric vit. C.  You can see the lecture above if interested.

You CAN NOT overdose or get too much Vitamin C from food or diet.

You can get too much from supplements, it can cause diarrhea and other stomach discomfort.

technically you can OD and die on too much vitamin C but you would have to force feed yourself vit C pills to get enough or take some sort of pure liquid form of it. You could not eat enough food to get too much vitamin C.

 

Vitamin C is also water soluable so you would lower your C amount just by peeing.

i once took a couple grams (capsules) of it at once, and the next day i definitely had diarrhea. other than that though i was perfectly fine

Here's a funny little story:

When I was 10 years old my family and I moved to Russia, to a city east of Moscow, and we were the first foreigners there (:

For the first 2 months we didn't eat enough fresh produce because there was barely any. I remember a lot of potato dishes. It was 1992 and the interior was still ... developing. Then we went on a long weekend trip to Moscow and, as soon as we checked into the hotel, my brother and I pounced on the fresh kiwis and bananas that were there. 

The next morning I woke up with, what looked like, a lot of mosquito bites on my body. They were itchy and I thought it was weird but didn't say anything to my parents. I ate more fruit that day and woke up the next day with an even worse rash. My mom saw, panicked, and took me to an emergency room.

They said it was a 'vitamin shock', ha! 

I've always loved fruit and, even before discovering 811, went on long fruit-only diets 'instinctively' and never again had that type of reaction, but it's funny now..

It's a water soluble vitamin, thus you'll just pee it out!
