30 Bananas a Day!

Hi everyone!

Almost a year ago I got kind of brainwashed and started forcing myself to eat about 4000 calories primarily of bananas, dates and potatoes. I thought back then that it was gonna help me feel more energized yet it made feel worse and worse, but I didn't stop force-eating until feeling really sick. So I decided to go to the doctor and got to know that I had IBS. The symptoms I had were headaches, abdominal pain, constipation - they matched the IBS symptoms. Unfortunately, i had some other symptoms like stiffening of my hands and legs, facial blushing (my face would also get hot) and dryness in my mouth, especially when I'm exposed to the sunshine or a few hours after eating. I also wake up at night hungry so my sleep isn't best and my body feels tired all of the time. Is it IBS for sure, or can that be something else? Can that be connected with enlarged thyroid gland?

Since then I've been eating starch solution since it's the only diet I can afford. I stopped force-eating (or force-feeding? I don't know what to call it) but it didn't seem to help a lot. Also, I tried eating 1-2 apples before every meal - it seems to help but it's not reliable all of the time. Stiffening of my limbs, and headaches almost disappeared but the other symptoms still remained.

What can I do about it? What do you think about fasting? Taking some supplements? Or eating all raw? I must add that I tried eating banana island for almost two weeks and it didn't seem to help, moreover I felt pretty lethargic doing it so I went back to starch solution.

Any help will be highly appreciated!

I had severe digestive issues like the ones you are describing since childhood and I found some tricks on HCLF that have helped heal my digestive system.

1) Be gentle on your body and let it heal. Eat when you feel like it but don't eat to the point of sickness.

2) Rice and oats helped me SOO MUCH! I found these foods were really gentle and allowed my body to restore to their normal setting, also the fibre is really good for you.

3) Water, water, water!

Just be kind to yourself and remember that it takes time for your digestive system to heal. When i first started I was so sick I thought I had something seriously wrong with me but I think the ibs had messed with my electrolytes and hydration levels. I found cooked foods were better for me personally and digested much better so I would say to stick with those. I wouldn't recommend fasting at all, I think your body needs nutrients especially if you have been ill. Just keep it high carb and simple, stick with easy meals like oatmeal or rice and I think you will see improvement.
