From what I've read about cucumbers it is the most alkaline fruit there is, and has minerals that are good for remineralization. But then cucumber probably belongs to the melon family, which doesn't mix well with other foods.
So should I eat cucumber just in the morning by itself like I would a melon?
For my belly, cucumbers and bananas make a poor combo because the water content is so much greater in cukes. I love love love cukes and mango (it's my cheese and crackers)!
I say give it a try, and see what happens? If it doesn't bloat you up, and you relish the taste, keep on doin' it :oD
I made a food combining chart that shows you what works/doesn't work together a while ago that should help you if you have any other questions on other food combining http://www.therawteen.com/2011/11/06/food-combining-chart/
I love how simple your chart is! Excellent.
At Doug's retreats we sometimes poured our banana smoothie over chopped cucumber. It's a delicious, harmless combo.
One of the PKs on here told me that cucumber was hard to digest and not recommended on 8-1-1, but I've never found it's effected me. So I'm not sure. I also read it was useful as a highly alkaline food and it helps me eat my greens. Maybe someone in the know could elaborate.
You could make nice little banana sandwiches from cucumber slices.
Thanks Peter that is very good info. I've wondered about the salicylate thing since my skin is very sensitive to beauty and haircare products, which often contain large amounts of them. I can't say I feel bloated when I eat cucumbers but I'm leaving them out to see what happens. Thanks for that.
