30 Bananas a Day!

I use morning fresh, it is super concentrated and i use lots, i am trying to cut down, but i basically put a few blobs on my sponge for every item i clean, will it harm me? can my body easily eliminate this stuff?

ed how do you know its bad stuff, do you know what trouble it can cause, sorry to be a pain but sometimes you cannot believe everything you hear:P would like maybe some science behind it if you can pretty please. My dishes are important to me:P

the best thing to do to know for yourself and especially so you can know everything you are buying in the future is to look up the ingredients listed on the label on the internet. there are lots of natural sites that will tell you what is toxic about these ingredients.  It is so important to eliminate our exposure to these toxic products!  They also are wreaking havoc on our environment.


For instance look at these ingredients:

Aqua, Sodium Dodecylbenzenesulfonate, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Alcohol, Lauramidopropyl Betaine, Lauryl Glucoside, Isopropyl Alcohol, Parfum, Limonene, Tetrasodium EDTA, Benzisothiazolinone, Geraniol, Citral, Linalool, Citronellol, Colorant.


Do a google search for Sodium Laureth Sulfate + toxic, and you'll find lots of info.

There is more info. in books and articles on toxic products.

I concur with shell to read the ingredients on your dishsoap, soaps, lotions, cosmetics, etc, and then google search and wikipedia them.  Most of them are harmful to our skin, our bodies, and the environment.  

On top of that, in the production of these chemicals at the factory level, there are other chemicals and buffers used to produce those chemicals and or the final end products that we use.  

Many of these chemicals end up poisoning the environment and water supplies around us, and potentially harming animals and crops.  

Our water and sewage plants only remove so many things.  It might freak you out to know you may be drinking water that has granny's blood pressure meds, and birth control and hormonal elements from your upstream neighbors:D))))  Modern living is so gross if we think too much about it.

An important question you should ask yourself is, "What are you eating on these dishes that needs more than a little water to clean?" When you think about it, the use of tons of soap is more of a habitual thing than a necessity thing, as we've been programmed to bleach and sterilize everything like germiphobes...What's safest for you and the environment, and best for keeping the quality of your dishes is to avoid soap, opt for using just water (which is by far the most effective all-purpose solvent, naturally--this is why chemists use simply dionized water to clean up after experiments), and hand dry them after rinsing them off with warm water. If your not eating ecoli and samonella covered, raw animal products on those dishes, you needn't drench them in chemical concoctions at all ;o).

Thinking back, it's so crazy for me to think about how many products I made a habit of buying/using that either are totally unnecessary (make-up, nail polish, perfume), or are only needed in response to a symptom of another unnecessary habit (soap, needed to clean oily messes; deodorant, needed to cover up the stink of bad dietary habits; lotion/hair conditioner/chapstick, needed to cover up for chronic dehydration). After I stopped using these things, I realized how much waste I had created for no reason buying these things that all come in plastic bottles that are actually useless! It's super liberating, and great for my budget, to be free from buying that stuff now {:oD

Anywho, back to your question: the problem with most soaps in general is that they contain carcinogenic dyes, volatile chemicals (this is why morning fresh, pine sol, etc... are very strong smelling--volatile means the chemicals are very unstable and have high rates of off gassing), toxic foaming agents, and worst of all they contain anti-bacterials. Anti-bacterials cause extreme natural selection of basically impossible to rid bacteria (just as antibiotics and pesticides do), that disrupt ecosystems (your water doesn't just disappear when it goes down the drain). 

OCA, the Organic Consumers Association, is an excellent resource for learning about what's in consumer products from food to soap. chloe its mainly for my blender, i sometimes mix bananas and celery, if I just use water, will my blender smell funny after a while?

Oh no not at all!! Just make sure to keep the lid off, stuff can get musty when stored that way (whether or not you use soap).

I have found that if I rinse the blender and other dishes and utensils right away before things have a chance to ferment and harden, there is no problem.

My blender jug is also glass, and all of my dishes and storage containers are glass with the occasional plastic lid.

The problem with plastics is that they can erode into our foods, and in those erosions, foods particles can get stuck and or even smell too.  IMO, glass is a better option.

If in case you do have a problem, try baking soda.  Baking soda is sodium bicarbonate which is in almost all water supplies in minute amounts.

This is a 'rinse only with water' lifestyle..

Stuff that you cannot rinse with water shouldn't go into your dish or your body..

I cannot believe that I do not need detergent lol its impossible!!!! are you serious? that is great news if its true, i hope you are right!!! i just have it in my head that if i do not use detergent then the dishes will not be clean.

What i think is that you guys are saying that water does a good job and it kinda cleans it good enough, is that what you are saying?

because i am very fussy and i need my plates to not smell of my previous meal

why would you even use dish washing soap in the first place? what do you need to wash off...mango juice off a plate? tomato seeds off a cutting board? honestly just ditch that non-sense stuff and use good ol' water n a sponge!

thats one of the best perks of being raw, no need to spend time washing off grease!
