I am SICK of bananas (they've been my staple for 6 months).
That's fine for now, because it's summer time and I can get good watermelon and peaches and berries and mangoes and even oranges.
I am hopeful that this is just a phase and that soon (by Autumn) I'll want bananas again (otherwise...it will be a pretty rough/expensive winter).
Has anyone else experienced this?
yeah at the end of winter/early spring i was so sick of bananas i ate cooked food just to avoid them and i stopped buying them by the case. now i just buy them by the pound (and i also switched from organic to conventional - they taste just as good or better), and i once again enjoy them. if you stop eating them for a bit you will miss them. lol but do it if need be. take a break from your relationship with bananas. they will always be there for you when you need them.
Nananas, they are the best of times......they are the worst of times......:)
More blasphemy! ;)
Can you get a better quality banana? I have found fair trade brands like 'Earth' and 'Turbana' to be so much better than any other and I can no longer eat organic Dole or even fair trade 'whole trade' brand although they are much better than organic Dole or Chiquita. I am in the states but I hear the same experience of fair trade from Australians so look around for them wherever you are. Oh and Tropical places have all kinds of yummy bananas to choose from.
No matter, it is a phase, but stock up now on whatever you can get your hands on and freeze some for winter. :)
Where can you find the 'Earth' and 'Turbana' fair trade brand of bananas?
Earth is at Whole Foods and Turbana fair trade you just have to check around, our small health food stores have them.
I would ask the produce buyer about them, if they ever get them, if they can get them, etc.
oh we are in the UK and were able to get a case of turbana once, they were lovely!
that's great to hear! :)
Thank you for the tip. I think my store gets in Dole and Turbana (both organic) intermittently. I'll make a point to buy a couple of bunches of Turbanas next time I see them and try them out.
yeah turbana is the best i've had. they also grow great plantains
