We really looked up to Ellen DeGeneres and now she has made the long list of fake vegan celebs.
She has so much power to influence people to go vegan and live cruelty free lives.
We express our frustration to her in an open video letter.
Anyone else pissed???
I am amazed that the term vegan is so popular now that even non vegans call themselves vegans. There are certainly many celebrities who are not vegan and do not claim anything else. So why call yourself vegan and promote leather (and cheese)?
So true. I cannot even understand what these people are thinking
These types of people operate solely out of self interest and only exist to feed their own egos and bank accounts.
Unfortunately people mistakenly assign them undeserved credibility. Marketing 101 at work there.
Anyone capable of generating a single independent thought can see through that transparent crap with ease.
IMO few if any of these 'celebrity' types (famous for being famous) are worthy role models and are best ignored.
Agreed, in school I was taught that Olympic champions and other sport figures were heroes. Even at the time I had some doubt. Often real heroes are not even recognized. Why, because their opinions are unpopular and gets hushed.
Take Donald Trump for starters. Some people look up to him and see him as a hero. Being rich and powerful does not make you a hero in my opinion. In fact given how the rich and powerful act, its most likely that person is a villain.
Think about the brown paper bag movement Emily posted. Legitimate heroes give away their money and expend their energy helping the less fortunate. Villains throw around their weight haphazardly stepping on and exploiting the underprivileged.
Does anyone get famous for quietly and efficiently showing up for protests? Sure MLK, Martin Luther King did, but what about the people who quietly supported him? How about people who slowly give away everything to the poor? As opposed to a billionaire giving away a million dollars to the cancer industry.
