30 Bananas a Day!

I'm about 1 month 100% LFRV and summer is starting here in NZ. I've had some amazing changes since being 811, well more like 955. I've been able to jog - ((very slowly)) - for the first time in YEARS! Better moods, sleep, no plaque build up on my teeth...
However today i freaked out a bit because i have gained weight since being raw and it's time to wear summer clothes - i'm not sure how much but my pants are tighter and my face is puffier.
I was low carb high fat for about 6 years before this, which kept the water off my body.
Now i feel like a wobbling balloon from breakfast onwards.
I see for others it lasted a couple of weeks. I'm scared this way of life/eating won't work for me like it is for others.
I have just come out of severe Chronic Fatigue so i am not fit yet, but i'm jogging/walking about 30 mins a day which is my maximum fitness level at the moment ....my lungs are puffing doing just that! I haven't been able to exercise for 6 years.
I'm guessing my body may take time to readjust and get used to using all the carbs?
Oh and i eat 2500ish cals per day.
Any advise or similar experiences?

I would say building up a good fitness base would be a big thing for you If you find your self puffing after exercise. A lot of people don't realize that they are over exercising at first and they learn to associate it with pain rather than pleasure. It should be like building a foundation that gets stronger over time. I started out with a heart rate monitor years ago and would aim to get to (180 - age) bpm. I let it take 15 mins to get to that level and start off at about 120 bpm (which is just beyond walking) and then stay at 150bpm for as long as I was comfortable with. I have a day of rest after running because the body tends to need to adapt to exercise and I would not recommend running every day at first. Rest is really important especially when you start being able to run for an hour or so. What I noticed with my friend when I was helping her with running was that she was going at a pace that she thought she should and was getting really puffed out.. when I monitored her heart rate she was way too high.. somewhere like 170 - 180 which is high intensity anaerobic and way too much for her. Even though it didn't seem like she was doing a lot her body was having to work overtime. working aerobically at lower intensities and building up endurance gradually will build a strong aerobic base. This has been my experience. It might seem like you are not doing as much as you should at first but as you adapt and stay in a good zone for heart rate you will find that you start to be able to do much more with a lot less effort.. Alchemy! your body adapts and becomes much more efficient with oxygen as fuel.
using this method I built up to a half marathon.. i remember my first 10K though years ago, I cant tell you how good I felt doing it.. I was overtaking people who I could hear physically struggling and I knew they were pushing themselves way too hard and hadn't gone through better training for this kind of long distance event. My breathing was comfortable and heart rate was in a good zone.

this is not to say higher intensity exercise does not have its place.. It certainly does but I believe, not at the expense of an aerobic base. build the foundations first and watch the magic happen. A lot of people have a hard time hearing this, especially at first as they believe the 'no pain no gain' rubbish. I tend to want exercise to feel good..

hope this helps!
Thanks Martin! That helps heaps. Yep i got too excited and have been pushing myself too much. I can be an all or nothing person sometimes. I plan to try easing back and build my fitness up as you say. Thanks heaps for your reply; makes allot of sense.
where in NZ are you? I'm in Wellington :-).

Hope all is well
Hi Eva
Oh cool! I'm in Auckland. How long have you been LFRV? So cool to meet you
I've ben 811 since March but had hiccups along the way plus a 6 week overseas trip which muddled things up. Just recommitted on Saturday to 100% 811, because I have no social obligations on the agenda in the next while. Good to build up my strength, committment and confidence before Xmas party season ;-)
