I bought three boxes of mangos, and usually I expect one or two out of my purchase to have these soft spots (rotting) that get bigger and take over most of the mango, with the rest of the mango not being ripe yet. So I end up having to throw a few out, no biggie, but recently out the three boxes I bought like 7 of them are "f'd" up, and a few more are showing small signs of the same soft spot that will grow, NONE ARE RIPE AND IM LOSING THEM ALL WTF!
Im having mango probs!
What is the deal with this why is it happening, what can I do to stop it. They were in a cold refrigerated room when i bought them, and put them out in room temp to ripen, and no bueno now.
Kinda putting me off buying bulk from where i buy now, and I may rather buy them by choosing individually at discount supermarkets or something.
Yea, live and learn, guess gotta make the extra trips to the markets to buy em ripe and ready!
If I get a bad box, I take it back for a refund.
Where do you buy?
Hi Greg, I buy at a little Mexican grocery store. I also buy cases of good juice oranges there. They do wholesale runs to Chicago because they are the only place in town (Sterling-Rock Falls has around 17,000 people) that caters to the Mexican population. Also, they have a restaurant next door. So they are like my wholesaler. I recommend that people try ethnic stores if there is no wholesaler nearby. They are often willing to sell cases at a discount.
