I find rice pretty boring on its own. Any ideas to make it less boring? I have tried vegan low-salt boullion cubes or cooking in veggie stock - I just don't want to finish it because it doesn't taste that good. I love my soy sauce, but I'm trying to find other ideas that don't involve so much sodium.
I make sushi with all my rice, especially cold left overs. This is what I add to the sushi: cucumber, sweet pepper, green onion, dill, cilantro, sweet potato, squash, mushrooms, fruit- jackfruit, mango, persimmon, kimchi, radish, carrot, etc.
Other ideas to make rice less boring is to add other starches or carbs to it. Mix up your rice with potatoes or sweet potatoes, add the rice to soup, mix rice with pasta, add steamed veggies, make mango rice... oh yeah and rice is a lot tastier if you add spices to it when cooking.. I like to add curry powder or plain fresh turmeric when cooking.
I can't eat rice without salt. I also use some hot sauce and liquid aminos.
If you keep in in reasonable proportions, try adding some coconut milk to your water :-p
cook it with some carrots.
Or add fresh squeezed citrus juice before serving
How about a nice tomato sauce
Why not eat boring rice and potatoes to make it that much more exciting when you bite into fruit? :P
If you find it boring, why do you eat it? Perhaps you should start eating something that is exciting, like ripe fruit instead. Ditch the rice and eat living foods ;)
