So I have just started this diet.. I haven't been 100% successful though, but I can say I've been 80% raw vegan! The 20% are my fall backs of course.. I am determined to be a fruitarian, and it's been tough, but I can say for sure it's getting better.
Well, today has really opened my eyes.
I've been trying my hardest to eat so much fruit. I'm new to all of this, so bringing food with me, counting calories, and all sorts of other stuff doesn't come naturally to me. Today, I ate..
Strawberry and Banana smoothie
Strawberry, Banana and carob smoothie
Mango Ice cream (Frozen mango and coconut water)
I know this might not sound like much, but it is for me, and was spread throughout the day. In the morning I ate unhealthy stuff, so I didn't list that.
Well, I had to go to work at 5, and work until 8:30.
I didn't feel too hungry, and didn't think I was going to be hungry, so I ate my mango icecream on the way over, and brought 2 mandarins and the avocado.
Got to work, worked a little,
Time passed. I did get hungry. I ate my 2 mandarins and avocado.
Uh oh.. I was still hungry! :(
It got to the point where I really really needed to eat something!!
So I caved in real bad and ate some breadsticks covered with alfredo sauce, cheese, and pineapple.. (ew..)
I. have. never. felt. such an aching pain in my stomach. While I was eating that crap, I recall saying "It feels like there's something doing back flips in my belly."
2 minutes passed and I was in so much pain. It hurt to breath. It hurt to sit up straight. It felt like something was clawing at my stomach lining! It hurt so so much. I huddled over to the bathroom and barfed.. Throwing up helped a little, but then on it's way back down, I was in pain all the same..
Man! It's like day and night when it comes to eating for health! When I eat healthy raw vegan food, I am so happy and cheery and bubbly, out going, and I just feel so good and lively! It's so easy to digest that food as well! Nothing feels bad at all (but I do get the toots! haha), and then after eating healthy all day and then devouring some unhealthy crap, I actually experience physical pain!
This experience will really help me resist those crappy foods in the future, that's for sure!
Yeah, you're not alone on this one! :) I have been eating raw for a few months now, and this morning I actually had a setback... I had been lacking so much sleep this week, last night I didn't even eat at dinner time. I slept for 14 hours, woke up, went for a walk and bought some hummus and pita chips from the store. Ate the entire thing when I got home. I probably needed the calories so I don't feel like I *binged* per se, but I'm definitely feeling the effects of all the fat and wheat and ugh.. I am going to make myself a gigantic fruit smoothie in a few mins.
Someone (an 80/10/10er, don't remember who) on YT said that we are GOING to want to have setbacks in the beginning. The non-food might even taste good as we're eating it. But right away, once we feel what it does to our bodies, we'll be begging for fresh fruit and vegetables again. And that is just beyond true, for me!
Exactly! The set backs will indeed help, because when I'm eating raw, my body feels great. And then when I eat SAD food, my body suffers. It's good to know!
