crystal deodorants contain aluminum, not good.
Tom's of Maine is owned by Colgate/Palmolive and every product I've looked at has toxic stuff in it.
Burt's Bees is now owned by Clorox so watch out for them.
Aubrey is a good independent company! They have two deodorants that are truly not toxic and smell great and work really well. http://www.aubrey-organics.com/ (we did not care for the strong smelling men's deodorant).
Gahh I new about Tom's, but now Burt's too?? Thanks for the info!
Thanks for the Aubrey link. I'm going to try their deodorant, a shave cream and a shampoo. I just placed an order. :D
ugh wish I knew this before I bought a new stick of Tom's! what about Jason? its similar to Tom's. I think Im gonna stay away from the popular 'natural' products that are all found in the health food stores and look for more independent companies
Tea tree oil! Water it down a bit so the ratio isn't as harsh.
I too went through a random bout of stinky underarms and I was horrified. It was like onions. I quit all deodorant and shaving the area, cause I would nick myself, causing some inflamed and infected spots due to the constant sweat and bacteria of the area . I washed them with water once a day and used the tea tree oil.
So far so good, I'm back to just nothing cause I don't have an offensive smell. I also wonder if its related to hormones, like certain times of the month!
Best of luck!
I use Lavender essential oil. A few drops on every armpit, and you're protected for about 18 hours (it doesn't last 24 hours as the chemical deodorants do). To reapply, rub area with water to remove previous remains, dry, then add a few drops to each side again.
i say try putting nice smelling oils on your skin like lavender etc
do you want something that works!! that is natural and safe? me too and I looked for 8 years. I had come across this answer years ago but never thought to use it as deodorant. Ozonated olive oil is your answer. No bacteria will grow under the arm thus no smell. However it is not an anti-perspirant so you can still sweat like you naturally are supposed to. But no smell! There are lots of companies out there that carry it but I use a product called Ozene by Premier Research Labs because most everything they carry is above and beyond top notch quality. No stink, no irritation, and non toxic.
Most all those other "natural deodorants" have aluminum (yes kiss my face, first ingredient)( the rock) or propylene glycol in Tom's and most others.
Body odor is produced from bacteria, use an antibacterial soap on your underarms. If I smell, then I do this in the shower and I am good for the day. Or you could just not care.
Simply Divine Botanicals' Keeping Abreast of It deodorant at simplydivinebotanicals.com Awesome company and superior product! Encourages lymphatic drainage and really works! My husband, whose a cooked vegan, uses it too. We have tried everything-this one really works and you don't have to reapply during the day. COMPLETELY natural and organic ingredients.
