30 Bananas a Day!

Hello! I've been somewhat a creeper for the half week or so, and have recently chose to completely upgrade my health to mostly raw vegan/vegetarian..

I've been watching vegan videos (Banana girl!) and been educating myself and reading around these forums, and gosh.. I really really want to change my eating habits and become more... nature orientated!! Nature can't be wrong, so this all makes sense to me.

I've been eating my good amount of fruit and veggies, but around the late afternoon, dinnertime, I just don't feel satisfied.. Can someone tell me what I can do to fill myself up?

For breakfast and lunch I ate all together an avocado, 3 mangoes, 2 oranges, 2 bananas, 2 apples, and one serving of peanuts.... And then I was STILL hungry, so I ate some crap. Like. Unhealthy shameful stuff.. Haha..


I drink water all day and also use cronometer

So I'm new to all of this, and if anyone has some tips that could help out a newbie, that'd be great! I'm looking forward to becoming a WHOLE RAW VEGAN someday, and as much as I'd like for it to happen right now, it's sorta.... hard. 

Also keep in mind that I am usually always on the go.. (I'm active, and I have college classes)

Thanks I'll keep that in mind. It's hard to have a big fruit diet when you're on the go. What do you mean the fats? Like the avocados and nuts?

I am extremely new to this as well, but I was told to just keep eating until you feel full. Like...just keep eating. So, you are going to need more fruit to do that. If you aren't feeling full I am assuming that perhaps you ran out of fruit, maybe? Make sure to buy in bulk. Check to see if there is a buying club in your area, which will allow you to purchase organic and fresh produce in bulk. Though you could live in an area where you can just purchase bulk foods directly, but you might have to buy a lot more than you would need to in a buying club. A banana smoothie in the morning might be good. I make mine with 3 bananas and it really fills me up, to the point where I can't drink anymore. Invest in a cheapie blender if you can't afford a really nice one (if you already have one then that's great!). It will take about 3s to make a smoothie in the morning--I just use bananas and almond milk (not made fresh raw/but I am still transitioning), probably less time than it would take to scramble eggs. You can add strawberries or other fruits to flavor it a bit more, as it can get a bit bland after you drink a lot of it. Raw vegan is probably best for a college student, especially since you can take fruit on the go!

Thanks for the advice! I plan on going to the farmer's market next week and buying in bulk. I'm lucky my mom made a random purchase and we have a box of mangoes here to devour~ And yes, the banana smoothies is such a good idea. Right now I'm drinking a really delicious one. 2 bananas, 2 dates, 1 apple, and coconut water! So good.

Get more calories from fruit and less from fat.  It is called 30bananasaday for a reason.  Track your intake with cronometer.com and stay within the 80 10 10 ratios.  Get 1000 calories by lunchtime.

So don't eat too much fats? Can you give some examples?

A read through Aloha to 30BaD's Welcome Wagon! will help explain a lot.  Basically you won't feel satisfied until you learn to eat enough.  2500 is the minimum for the ladies but many need more than that.  10 times your body weight in kilos times 4 is how you figure your basic calorie needs and then add more for activity.  Check out Eli's daily busy college athlete 811 schedule: 80/10/10 athlete's daily routine

My tip is eat as much as you can pack in! The more you eat in monomeals the better. When I first started a two weeks ago I was NOT eating enough and then I almost gave up because it was miserable! Make sure you are trying to hit like 1000 calories per meal. For breakfast I usually have a 10 banana smoothie and then pack bananas in my napsack so I can have something to eat at class during the day.

Like Divinespire said you should buy in bulk! the more fruit you can get around you the better. you will be much less temped by the non-so-nice foods!

dont get caught up with the whole digestion thing. our bodies secrete various digestive enzymes to assist in the breakdown of different food groups, at the same time.

keep experimenting and find what works for you :)
