well, sort of. Had to get a drug test for a job last week. It was a urine sample. Got a phone call today saying that I need to retake the test because my urine was "too diluted". I hadn't even drank my usual amount and it was clear with a tinge of yellow. It didn't even cross my mind that urine could be too diluted as to prevent drug-use detection...so I just drank and ate normally the day before and morning of.
The lady told me I should not drink so much water before, but given that our food intake is 80% water, I'm worried that it may still show up diluted even with me drinking less (or not at all?).
Anyone take a drug test while on 811 and pass?? Should I not drink water at all, but eat normally? Just eat dates all day + some water? People are telling me to eat a cooked meal to be safe, but I don't wanna!
I also don't want it to be unreadable again though and have them really suspect that I'm trying to meddle with the results. What to do?
1_ Don't work somewhere you can't be yourself
2_ Don't make food adjustments just to pass a drug test.
3_ Explain to them that all you eat is fruit, and maybe that is the cause for dilution.
I am probably no help to you, but someone else may have better advice.
Well that's a first for us!
Tells you something about the state of our society, that being properly hydrated is a drug flag. sheesh
You might try asking the lady you mention how much water she recommends to ensure a clear reading (just for the day or two prior, of course). Doesn't hurt to explain your diet either. At the very least, it's a fine testimony for her :)
and yes, most everything we eat is water-rich but some stuff is dryer than others. Just handfuls of dates might clog you up, but a couple days of high or mono nans might help.
But if you still feel they're worth your labor, don't let em give you any guff or try to browbeat you. If any false accusations do come, fight it tooth and claw. Show em you're a valuable asset to their company, in no small part because you care so much about your health.
mhmm, i got the "hey, you must really be drinking a lot of water then. that's bad for you, you'll deplete your minerals," from the same people peeing bright orange.
If any false accusations come, i'm out of there. It's just a little part time job, nothing to take THREE drug tests just to prove i don't partake in any funny business. I'll be sure to plug my superb lifestyle though.
If possible, see if you can schedule another test first thing in the morning. If this is possible, then the morning of, only drink to quench your thirst, but not what you normally drink.
If this is a random on the spot test, then quit drinking immediately.
The sad thing is these and other medical test are designed for dehydrated people eating a SAD diet.
Another precaution from the medical labs side is that they may have people doing drugs, and intentionally drinking a lot to dilute their urine so that the drug does not show in illegal amounts. Just a guess.
Good luck with it and Peace, PK
Ginger Cats Rule! Thanks for confirming my words. Peace, PK
yeah, i figured. I just also figured that if someone was shooting up, it would show in a urine sample no matter how watery it was.
blood test, my foot! :)
I take urine tests regularly as part of my job and haven't had any problems with it and this lifestyle. Being too hydrated shouldn't cause any problems as I'm not even sure there is such a thing. I would get a 2nd opinion from a doctor if you run into problems
exactly. if there's nothing but water and a few mineral salts in my wee, it just means i'm drug free!
I will try again with little to no water
Estefania, I know the labs here won't even take the sample if too clear - that's the way it goes. i've done it, just don't drink so much water in the morning before giving sample, then after, drink up to make up ;-) good luck, no need to worry.
serious? only valid samples are those from nicely dehydrated folks. this should not surprise me but it does. i thought that was the point of standing outside the door, not allowing the accused to flush or open the tap....I find it very difficult to ignore thirst but, i shall try
