30 Bananas a Day!

my parents are threatening to control what i eat out of the fear that i have an "eating disorder" even though i eat 2-3k calories a day, which is a ton for someone my size (5'3")
my dad is a mcdougall supporter, and has an obsession with whole grain. all the time, it's all i hear - "you need more whole grain, whole grain, blah blah EAT YOUR BREAD"

of course i don't. 
i need articles that talk about why grains are bad for you and how fruit does not spike blood sugar any more than bread does, and i can find plenty online, but not from reliable sources.

if i don't get some info to fire back at him, i'll be forced to eat oatmeal at breakfast, tofu sandwiches for lunch, and rice and beans at dinner.
i'm gonna cry. someone help me out of this.

my dad and i went vegetarian three years ago together, and vegan almost a year ago together. and he would freak if i showed his that i owned a book promoting raw veganism…but i might give it a try. thanks!

bdw, dont wory, I was on the same boat with my nutritionist and she acutally dont agree in fruit and vegetable is everything and in enough amount, and that no protein and fat enough.

bdw. starches and gluten is now proven cause of my autoimmunity(i am celiac;)

If this helps, my hemoglobin A1C (shows red blood cell glycation over a span of 120 days) has DECREASED on a mostly fruit-based diet, 99% HCRV. It is 5.0, which is perfect. :)

Also, my blood glucose was 96ng/dL. Amazing ;)

please buy 80/10/10 from Dr. Doug Graham and read it over with your parents. that might help them. Not only does the book have a wealth of information, but it also has pure facts. It has charts with the amount of nutrients available in fruit meals, and it refutes TONS OF STUDIES from "reliable sources." There are also studies featured in the book. The China Study being the most important of them. Look it up in the forums and that will bring up a link to a free download. Everything else about raw is logic. There was an olympics magazine where olympic trainers called fruit "the magic food" for olympians. Seriously, have your parents hold off on the threats until you purchase 80/10/10, and get blood tests taken. Maybe your parents are a little deficient ;)

More importantly, Go to a nutritionist and get evaluated. Take blood tests, a body fat percentage test (lean-to-fat ratio), and have a food diary ready to show both the nutritionist and your parents, which would show them how much you are eating. Do your parents see you eating your 2-3k a day?

Tofu is horrible for women because it has estrogen in it, which can really screw up your hormones.  Legumes are also hard on your system to digest, as well as soy, and so we're obviously not made to eat them. The Mcdougall diet would be so hard on my digestive system...I'd be gassy all the time from all those legumes!

Tell him that if he won't let you eat your fruit you're going to move in with me and he's never going to see you again! :-))

We are going through the same thing! I am sorry! I am having a hard time dealing with how the critiques make me feel too!

Make a bet with your dad...

Tell him to let you eat "your way" for two months and then have blood work done.If it comes out deficient in anything you will go to eating "his way" and pay him $100.

Or if(when) it shows that everything is fine(or better) you keep 80/10/10 vegan raw and he pays you $100.

A "real man" will always give in to a good bet..

Since it seems like it's more your dad than your mom, I would say get a copy of 80/10/10, sit down with him and say, "Alright dad, let's talk. I think you don't like what I'm doing because you haven't looked into it enough. Do you think you could read this book with an open mind, and then get back to me? We'll talk from there."
Do you think he'd be up for it?
