Hummus usually has way too much fat and protein to be worth eating at all. I will say that garbanzo beans digest better than any other beans for me so I don't think those are the problem. If you really dig hummus make your own using some of the water you cooked the beans in for moisture instead of oil.
To me it is an addictive food...
I just bought hummus from my whole foods store.. called Whole Foods lol but its all high carb ingredients, organic, and oil free!!! Its whole foods brand and they have like 6 or so different flavors!
The carb/protein/fat ratio is 5/1/1 so just a little bit paired with veggies is perfect! I'm pairing the rest of it with a day of fresh fruit.
I eat hummus all the time these days, on rice cakes. I make my own though, oil free with sundried tomatoes

It could definitely be the gluten free pasta. Was it corn or was a mix of things? In my experience gluten free means very dense and dehydrated! Even the brown rice pasta feels too heavy.
Do you all use canned to make your own hummus? Or dried then soak, cook and puree. Does anyone mix tahini into it?? Does this sound like too much oil when on 80/10/10 you shouldn't even be eating oil? Thanks for any replies!
Tahini is a paste and not an oil.
I make hummus both with and without tahini. Instead of tahini I use some liquid from the cooked chickpeas. I have also used cooked sweat potato or winter squash.
Tahini makes it a little creamier but there's no need to go overboard on it. Tahini is not an oil as it's not 100% fat as vegetable oils are. It contains a wider range of nutrients than sesame oil including a significant amount of protein - about 18 grams per 100 grams of tahini.
When they serve hummus in most middle eastern countries they top it with olive oil so that would make it a very high fat food.
