30 Bananas a Day!



I seem to have a problem; I have jumped off the HCRV bandwagon.  For New Years this year I made a resolution to go HCRV, and I did for a variety of reasons that I am sure you share, such as health and ethics.  I also made this decision come pretty much straight from a SAD diet, although I had be contemplating it for over a year.


It was tough the first few weeks, but I did good and stuck with and became easy and normal for me after a while.  Well sometime around the beginning of March I got very sick with a bad cold that just would not go away.  When I first started feeling sick it was a day or so before market day where I buy about 80% of my fruit for the week.  So when market day came around I missed it.  Short there after I ran out of fruit.  I was still feel sick and and I could not be bothered to go grocery store for more fruit.  I just was not up to it.  So I made a decision which I now truly regret, to start eating some cooked food.  The idea was to stay 80-10-10 and only to do it until I felt well again. 


Well, I had a slow recovery and I never really recovered from the cook food as I am still doing it, although it is not to say I have fully reverted back to a SAD diet as I am still primariy following a veggie diet.  I have realize some of the things that I thought at first (I live in a country that is not my own so I am not always aware of what the ingredients are) were high carb were indeed high in oil and salt.  As a result, I feel like crap and have gained weight.  Several times I have tried to jump back on the HCRV bandwagon, and I know and understand all the reason why I should be raw, but I keep caving to the cook food cravings.


Well last night I sunk to a new low.  I was hungry, and having a craving and through some convoluted thinking I ordered not only fast food, but fast food with meat.  I have been thinking about it all day.  I admit I need some help.  I was wondering if anyone here has had the same problem I have had, and if so what they had done to get back on the 811 track.  Also, since I live as an expat in a country that eats a ton of meat and dairy (Although fresh fruit and veggies are available) I am kind of doing this alone.  I was wondering if ther was anyone who would be interested in doing a mutual cheerleading and motivational partnership with me.  Hopefully it can help us both.

Check on the dates and oranges! But to be honest, I'm kind of Banana'd out.  Before I was eat about 30 BAD and now when I look at one my stomach says oh no not another! But truthfully, I know once I start eating them its okay, and I combining them with stuff is no problem.  On the other hand, bananas are UBER expensive here at the moment.  But your right! I just gotta do that... The thing is, I've started about half a dozen times, and then fall off again.  It's like I'm not even sure where my will power has gone.

I've never heard of the raw till four program.  I'll look it up.

raw till four was how i started cos i could only get 2100 fruit calories in and my target was 3000

i had steamed rice/potato no oil no salt to hit the target 

now my digestion is better i can eat 3500 fruit calories but took 8 months time

buy a 25 pound of rice or a 10 pound bag of potatoes  for your din din 's

i kinda looked forward to it cos i was tired of sweet fruit  ....a break from super sweet to bland was nice

i do the same. I hit a point where i simply dont want a sweet food i'll shovel in salad and such but if i need the calories i'm hungry for something other then fruit i go for rice or potatos. I think its helping me save a few bucks as well. I can go days on end shoveling in fruit but i hit a point where nuff is a nuff i need at least one meal away from it.

I understand that! When I started eating cooked food again I started eating a lot of rice pilav.    I wish it was loaded with oil where I lived though.

Actually, due to my work schedule, I am never home for dinner.  So usually I end up out for dinner with my coworkers.  I usually end up eating something like veggie burrito (no cheese), rice pilaf (its made with oil here), and beans (also made with oil.  I do eat salads, but they're more of a side dish here.  I cant get enough to actually make it a meal.  Before when I was doing good as HCRV I was bringing a lot fruit with me to work.  I still eat a lot of fruit at work, but not everyday now.

Everything is a choice, a decision.  If you want it enough, you will do it.  Saying that, we eat cooked since we have a large family we need to.  I got sick back at the beginning of the year, too, and the ONLY thing that would go and stay down was pizza...I picked off the meat.  Once I started feeling better we determined that it wasn't good, the children were cranky monsters and we started fighting again.  I hate that sooo much and makes my life miserable.  If you, like banana - boy said, get rice and make it yourself, you can have veggies with it or beans - without the added oils - and start feeling sooooo much better being carbed up.  Cooked food is not bad, it's when you don't carb up or don't have the funds to buy fruit, then things fall apart and cravings overtake your rational thinking.  I feel so like myself and don't have cravings for junk and it's easier to make the choice to even have a smoothie though I'm making rice/veggies or potatoes for the children.  If you can't eat better with your friends, then you need to consider doing something else with them and eating better for yourself.
