does someone know how to get a B12 shot in France? Do you know a doctor or naturopath who prescribes/ give them?
Or is it possible to buy it in a pharmacy without prescription?
Also, do you know if it is possible to have an urinary MMA test in this country?... because apparently that is the most accurate test to test for B12 levels in the body.
Lol, that's nothing.. i recently got tested and my value was <37 so basically zero.. but it's been like that for at least 10 years, at least the symptoms.. and i'm only vegan since february.
Anyway.. urinary MMA, is that the active B12 test? i'm going to ask for that too next time i test my blood.. but i can't remember if it was on the paper with things you could test.. and when i google it also says "some laboratories", probably the one my doctor sends it too doesn't do it i guess.. but i'm going to ask if they maybe do it in nijmegen or so. i still don't notice anything of the injections only that i've got slight acne thanks to them.
Taka, how many injections have you had so far? what substance was it? Methylcobalamine?
i've had 9 injecions so far, hydroxocobalamin, that's the only form of B12 they inject in the Netherlands.
The usual protocol for the doctor was 2 injections per week for 6 weeks and then once per 2 months or so.. but because i read it here among other places about the 1 per day for a week 1 per week for a month one per month for life, it's going that way, but maybe i could've better done the 2 per week thing cause in that first week i probably peed most out, but someone else also in the netherlands did get 1 per day for week 1 per week for month etc.
But i think according to the leaflet it takes 6 weeks or so before you should notice anything.. i'll see.
Thanks Taka, very interesting.
At least you are lucky, your doctor agreed to give you those injections!
Could you please let me know when you notice something, if you get better, or anything?
I have found online that we can buy this product for instance:
But it is cyanocobalamine. There are others, like this one:
But it is also Cyanocobalamin.
I didn´t have to pay for the blood test, yes it was reimbursed.
To test vit B12, there is also the urinary MMA, but I don´t think that doctors prescribe it often. I have seen that the lab Cerba does it. You can see with your doc or call the lab to know the price of the test.
I have never done the urinary test but would like to do it in a few months, if my doctor allows me which I hope.
Please, let me know if you are able to have this test done and also if you find a way to get Methylcobalamin injected. Thanks!
