I live in iceland and i can get bananas in 3 different main prices...
Most expensive in the cheap stores is 2 bucks per kg
After that the price i mainly get them for is 1.6 dollars per kg
SOMETIMES when they have them in another store they put a red tape around them and sell them for 0.8 dollars a kg ! =) i always take all of them when they have them, but they havent had them since christmas.
They´ve been getting so many green ones that the over ripe ones (to them) arent avalible.
usually when i buy them i can get them to stay for up to a week longer even though they are ripe in the first place :D
I just got two boxes 40lbs or 18kg each yesterday of the middle price ones... 1.6 dollars... so i paid about 50-60 dollars for them.
How about you? :)
I just got some for 69 cents a pound at a gas station yesterday. I've gotten cases of non-organic for $25 and organic for $36-37. I live in Massachusetts.
Last week, i bought a box (15KG) for $5 Australian. 33c per KG is the best price i have ever seen. Got another two boxes the next day, just to freeze them :)
A 18Kg box is 19.60 US dollars here. They give you a 10% discount sometimes. So I usually pay 17.64 for 18Kg. $1.03 per Kg. I'm in Virginia.
Down here in Singapore normal bananas cost as low as 19c a kilo. brands are mainly dole and aloha.
i once bought a wholesaler's box of bananas which cost me 20SGD for 20 bunches of about 7-8 in each bunch. good thing is i have a lot of them. bad thing is they all ripen together. so once they become spotty i have to eat them quickly if not they would rot. thats why i stopped buying bulk.
im looking around for organic bananas and wanna taste and see whats the difference.
77 cents a pound
88 cents a pound for organic
I live in minturn, CO just outside of Vail, CO where I shop at City Market
Usually organic bananas are 0.69/LB but yesterday I picked up about 40 bananas that where super ripe and discounted to 0.39/LB .. i SCORED! I always buy ALL of the discounted bananas too when they have then :) so far its happened twice ..
I pay £23 GBP (prob about 46$ for 20kg in London UK - organic fair trade nanas... is this expensive?
€0.99 in Germany per KG for not organic
Just curious but how many banana's do you guys buy and how often? I see people talking about supermarkets here! But in the Netherlands you can't even buy +10kg of banana's at the supermarket (they don't allow it, tried C1000 en AH). So I buy a box of 13kg or 18 kg banana's weekly at my local market specialist fruit and vegetable grocer.
Fair Trade Earth Bananas from Whole Foods cost $0.89 per pound, with a 10% discount on a case.
Dole Bananas sell for $0.19 a banana at Trader Joes.
I live in Illinois, in the US. I can get organic bananas for 69 cents a pound, but availability is limited. I can get conventional bananas for 44 cents a pound wrapped in plastic at Aldi, or 49 cents a pound at WalMart. I choose to buy only organic bananas at this time.
