I really want to mono on one fruit for over a month and this is the only one that I think I can tolerate. They are very ripe and cheap where I am right now. Thoughts? I would probably juice some of them and blog about it.
I think I will start tomorrow and just orange juice sounds very appealing to me. Anne is such an inspiration! How many navel oranges do you think I would need in a day juiced? I am 5'5" and 130 pounds. I am assuming about 30?
surprisingly they are actually quite amazing. Since I am in love with oranges, I know the difference between ripe and unripe. In the summer if I try to eat even two oranges my mouth burns. But in the winter months I thrive on em. I've been monoing on them off and on lately. I am able to eat up to 8 in one sitting.
I'm not completely sure. I think mostly it gives your body alot of time to repair itself with out the hinderance of digestion. If I don't see benefits I'll probably stop but it sounds like a fun adventure to me. I want to be high high high on oranges.
I love navels and there are really awesome sweet yummy juicy organic ones at my farmers market here right now. I'm not mono-ing on them for the whole day, but I am having a big mono meal of them almost every day lately, usually for breakfast. I find that navel oranges are one of the most satisfying fruits for me. Most other fruits I want some greens afterwards, but navels are just perfect on their own.
I've noticed this too about oranges. I guess since they are high in minerals? Bananas, especially, I feel I have to eat celery with it. Oranges, never. It helps me with salt cravings. I'm pretty sure its from the minerals in them. I dont have to eat any greens.
Yes, that's exactly what I am guessing too. I'm so analytical, I always want to see if I can figure out a reason for things like this. I'm currently thinking that they are high in fiber, so they satisfy for hours instead of going right through you. And they are really high in calcium, and are one of the few fruits that have more calcium than phosphorus. For some reason I've been focusing on that ratio lately, and I notice that I feel solid and satisfied when I eat more calcium than phosphorus, and this is one of the few fruits I can mono on and achieve that ratio without supplementing with greens.
Dear OrangeFever ♥
I am currently on day 53 of an extended mono Orange juice diet.
I listen to my body every day and see how the Oranges are working for it.
It is also important to me to take organic or biodynamic Oranges, and only nicely ripe ones at that.
Even a biodynamic Orange can affect the tooth enamel if it is picked unripe.
I guess from your posts that you are an experienced Orange picker, so I would say just take each day as it comes and see how the Oranges are working for your body.
I have had a great time.
Also, I love the simplicity and the break from thinking about what I am going to eat; changes the focus of life a bit ♥
Best wishes with your Orange diet ♥
