30 Bananas a Day!

How do you fit in water while eating Many Smaller meals throughout the day?

Does anybody struggle with this who eats multiple small meals as oppose to two or three big meals. How do you fit in a liter of water before every meal. Also with grazing and little snacks here and there are u suppose to wait like an hour or 30 min after snacking before you can drink water?

I space it out.  I try to do at least 3 liters of water minimum, but shoot for 4 a day.  I don't feel super great if I drink a liter of water & then eat a full meal of food.  So when I wake up, I'll chug a liter or two of water, do my morning routine, get my exercise in, and then have a meal - but I usually try to wait at least 30 minutes drinking that much water before eating so that I don't feel gross.  Then I'll have another liter mid-morning between meals, and again in the afternoon inbetween meals.

I like eating small meals because I don't get all bloated like I do just eating 3 meals a day, plus, you know, I just really like food haha.  Eating delicious fruit all day is great!  I've been living off clementines & dates lately and it's the bomb!  I've actually kind of switched my drinking habits & usually don't drink at all when I eat, since a lot of the fruit I eat is liquidy enough as I prepare it (oranges by default, banana smoothies with water for them to blend, etc.).  Depending on how gooey my dates are, sometimes I'll have a cup of water with them.

I drink on a routine because I forget to do it otherwise.  I tried carrying a large bottle or two with me all day & just drinking all day long, but it feels like so much work that way.  So much easier for me just to schedule it, chug down a liter or so, and be done.  That way I know 100% I'm staying hydrated & it's not a hassle all day long.  And if you're just doing three liters, then just do it when you first wake up, partway through the morning, and then sometime in the afternoon, and boom, you're covered.  It does take a few weeks for your stomach to stretch out to accommodate all of the liquid and it is NOT a comfortable feeling for awhile while you're acclimating, but like anything else, eventually your body gets used to it.

So my tips are:

  1. Decide on how much you want to drink in a day
  2. Drink a liter at a time (carry the quantity of bottles you need with you so you can easily know when you've drunk the proper amount)
  3. Don't drink within 30 minutes of food (or even an hour) so you don't get mega-bloated & feel icky

I realize this isn't going to work for everyone, but it works out well for me - it's something I don't have to think about.  I just have a timer set on my smartphone - when my phone buzzes and the notification says "water", I take out my 32-ounce bottle, drink it, and I'm done.
