Title says it all.
Let's say you're having a mono-meal of 15 oranges (1000 calories) for breakfast, what is the most efficient way of eating them?
I know juicing is a bad idea. However, when I juice, most of the flesh is separated from the liquid - I simply added it back together into a pulpy orange juice. Is that okay?
Or is the best way simple to cut the oranges into quarters and bite each wedge?
Well when I eat a mono-meal of oranges, I'll either just eat them whole (particularly if they are Navel oranges or another very juicy variety) or I will blend them up into a big smoothie. Sometimes I'll do a mix of both, as in a smoothie with some whole oranges alongside, which makes a nice filling breakfast.
I would definitely say go for keeping the pulp in rather than jucing - always best to keep as close to the fruit's natural state as possible. If you dont have a blender/smoothie maker then adding the pulp back in is a pretty good plan! Otherwise, just blend them up :)
Quarters work too, so I guess in the end just go for the one you enjoy most!
Have a great day, Esperanza
I peel them and eat the wedges.
I was slicing them and eating the wedges off the skin, but gosh it would take me over an hour to get enough in! I'm going to try turning them into juice with the pulp put back in tomorrow. I used to juice without pulp and had terrible results. So hopefully tomorrow goes well!
I like to peel them and then blitz them up in the blender. It turns out really good if you have a high speed bender, otherwise it is a bit chunky.
voraciously and happily! :)
Lately I've been using peeler to get rid of just the skin so that the pith remains. Then I slice them and chew thoroughly. I do this cause there's plenty of goodness like calcium and yet more vitamin C in the pith. It's certainly not a time saving method. But I'm not eating more than a few at a time.
I did try blending up ~1300g (830 calories) of oranges with pith the other day. That may be too much at once for me because a few hours after that I had GI distress for hours. No diarrhea or anything just intermittent pain. I don't know what the deal was.
I tried the blended route because I thought I could keep the stuff off my teeth that way. I've begun think it's probably a bad idea to subject your teeth to many minutes of citrus.
