I just love this pic and I wanted to share it. Talk about fruiting yourself! I'm pretty active so my calorie intake is 3000-3500 a day and these melons are so super sweet they have been my staple for nearly 2 months! I truly now how it is to not help but make a scene every time I go to the grocery store not to mention I'm becoming good friends with all the check-out girls and stock boys. : )
Man that many cantaloupes would be a dream too. LOL I really love melons. I want to try more and more variety, but so far I have only eaten watermelon, cantaloupe and honeydew all I LOVE.
actually I cant eat much at once either. I ball up the whole melon in a container and take it with me where ever I go and pick at over a few hours usually 3 hrs per melon. Ive been working at this lifestyle for 2 years now. Each year I learn so much more it gets easier and easier.
Wow sometimes I wonder if I am the weird one. I never had issue eating large amouts of fruit, I could do it from day one. Strange. But the more I read all the trouble people have esecially when a young healthy man can't eat 3 cantaloupes at once (and I can eat 4-5 for breakfast depending on size, all before I head off to work, or a whole huge watermelon for that matter) or it takes a healthy girl like yourelf 3 hours to eat a melon, I start to wonder if I have an abnormally large stomach and perhaps I should be concerned that it isn't normal to consume this much at once and since others can't maybe their is a reason, perhaps the human body sets a natural limit on quantity and as a result I am harming myself without realizing it because for some reason my body isn't giving me the same signal of stop that is too much at once. HMMMM makes me think. I hope I am not doing myself any harm.
Yep use cronometer. I make sure to get 2500-3000 calories a day minimum sometimes depending on the day I eat up to 3500. When I was eating less I was deteriorating and I was desperate so before I came an actual member on this website I would come here hoping to find answers. When I came here during my worst struggles I kept seeing people give the advice over and over eat more calories, it was like the answer was hitting me in the face even though I didn't know the answer I was looking for. All I knew is I felt bad and I wasn't getting better. So I came to this website time and time again trying to find an answer to how I could get better (I came to this lifestyle with health issues and I got unhealthy and dangerously underwight). And it was like my question was being answered with all the advice of eat more calories that alot of people were giving to other individuals strugling. I was worried to up my calories so I resisted because I thought I ate plenty, even though I was eating about 1600 a day at first. I reluctantly upped it to 2000 started feeling better but it didn't last, kept working up every time I upped it I felt better at first then I would take another step back. Now I am at this level and so far, even though I am still having issues, things are getting better finally and finally I am putting on some weight and keeping it on (where before I couldn't) and I have been able to maintain progress and keep progressing now on this calorie intake. I started weighing my food to make dang sure I didn't under eat.
I don't like the idea of gaining a bunch of weight but if I have to eat this many calories to get better and if the result is me gaining weight to a higher level then I should be temporarily then so be it. Once I am well I can straighten that matter out through exercise or whatever, it wont be permanent I want to be fit and lean. I just have to let my body get better first.
So as far as activity level right now I am not active at all sadly. I miss exercise and leading an active lifestyle but right now my body isn't giving me the energy for it because it wants me to get better I guess. So right now I am not worried about weight, or overeating on calories, my top concern is my health and gaining optimum health and vitality (took me awhile to get to this mindset). I just don't want to harm myself in anyway, so that is my only concern with the large amount of food I eat, am I doing harm somehow? If so I will make sure to go easy on the melon and eat it over time instead of at one meal.
Wow sorry this was a long explanation. I can get wordie at times. :-) I will try and work on that and give shorter answers. LOL
it takes time. we have limited our bodies natural elasticity by taking in high fat therefore low volume and it takes time to get back to it. you should use cronometer.com to figure out your calories. and to think, overweight people get surgery to reduce their elasticity in their stomach yet us fruitarians are skinny and want more elasticity to fit more food in. LOL Overtime, you'll be able to eat more and more and more in less meals. i find doing fruit smoothies helps me get in a lot more calories. unless you want to do like raw til 4 where you eat one giant bowl of rice, lentils, or potatoes with a large salad or something. Making date-o-rade is a great way to smash in some calories. 22 dates and some water (ice optional) and you've gotten a 1400 calorie drink.
that's awesome Mitch. im always expecting to run into a fellow fruit bat at the stores. I figure we're pretty easy to spot! lol
LOL I am always hoping that too, I am in the store and I check out peoples carts. If you ever run into to me in the store I definitely would be easy to spot, my cart is full of fruit and then lettuce. That is it. LOL The cashiers are always like wow are you have a huge barbeque, or oh how many people are juicing in your house. LOL
Nice :-) I always have bananas in my cart lol people look at me weird, when loading up the conveyer belt but to me when I look at what they are buying and like you said it is a bunch of packaged, processed junk, I look at them weird. Why am I a freak for unloading tons of bananas and other fruits and they are normal with their meat and microwave dinners soda and chips? That is food? And mine is what? weird.
I like rolling up to the check out line and the person in front of me looks at my cart and says, "wow, ur the healthiest eater ive ever seen!" which kinda shocks me to hear a lot of people say fruit n veggies are health food but can't seem to relay to their own diets. I was told if anyone gives me a hard time about buying 12 watermelons that I should point out that I saw some lady with 12 cans of pork n'beans and no one is giving her a hard time! lol But seriously im often behind someone buying nothing but 10 12-packs of various pop and NO ONE thinks that is weird? Does anyone else see the soda packers too? I think its what they give their kids instead of water..?
my favorite is the honeydew. Damn those are a lot melons!! Must be a good workout just carrying them inside. LOL
you should enter a watermelon eating contest. id say you're training for one whether you realize it or not. lol
