You know who you all are, 14 - 20something and you "get it". You get it in a way that many people 2 and 3 times your age don't. They invent all kinds of mental gymnastics to justify what they think about animals, meat, etc. And you simply cut to the chase and cut out all the BS.
Well, I think it's awesome! I wish I had known at your age, what you know. I know you will probably get all kinds of flak from friends and family, so let me just say preemptively, well done! You rock! :)
I've seen quite a bit of brilliance from you guys lately around here and it makes me really excited to see. I sometimes feel bad when I look around and it seems like the human race has all taken stupid pills or something and then I see all these flashes of brilliance from you guys, giving me hope. Thanks! and keep up the good work! :)
Im 18 and loving it!!
Awesome Kayleigh! :)
this is great! haha i tried to convince my 67 year old gran to become at least vegetarian (she is obese and has diabetes mellitus) i try telling her she will love it but shes stuck in her ways, i suppose we cant make everyone feel amazing and healthier!?
True! But you know you could probably give her some yummy vegan food, fruit she's never tried before, etc and maybe just plant a seed that could sprout later on. As long as a person is breathing it is never too late to improve their life! :)
Probably just seeing you doing great will be the best message she could get. If she has this totally awesome granddaughter who loves her like crazy and who is just glowing with health.... Well, you might just be surprised! :)
great idea! might even take her to a local vegan restaurant! i know she will love it, i don't know anyone i have taken that doesnt, thank you :)
Chris - My four year old daughter is a vegetarian and she talks to her Dad about the meat he's eating all of the time. She is respectful of his choice to eat meat, but when I listen to their conversation, I can't believe how right on she is, and how brainwashed and defensive my Husband is. She is so compassionate and I am so proud of her.
That's excellent Ali! :) Young kids get it and a lot of older, supposedly wiser, people simply do not. Lots of stuff that takes years to harden on and "cure" we'd be better off without! One thing I'd like to say is that I used to be "that guy", the meat eater who didn't see past the package. I don't think I was very defensive, maybe if someone told me I was a murderer or something, but I did think I knew better, knew we needed lots of protein, etc.
Anyway, whether it seems like it or not, I bet you guys are planting seeds! It took me a good 15 years or so to come around, because I am dense, which is part of why I get really pumped to see these kids so smart, so young, spreading the word! :)
And your daughter is starting at 4, that is really wonderful! :)
Love this! Touched my heart!
I'd like to connect with more vegans my age! I'll be 18 on November 18th. Send me a friend request if you're interested in connecting. Currently living in Alaska but planning to be in Hawaii in January.
Hi Hannah :) Maybe you can also try over at this group if you haven't already:
Hawaii after Alaska should be pretty nice, esp in January!
