30 Bananas a Day!

Hello! First of all, before you read this, note that I am underage, a girl, and have cruelty supporting parents.

I went vegan for a couple of days and never felt better. I didn't tell my mom that I was vegan and avoided eating lunch at home. Unfortunately she found out and got very mad. She said there is no way she will let me eat vegan, since I am"too old" and still growing. She says I need cow titties juice to get calcium. She lets me be vegetarian but I want to be more! Is she right? She told me to write this and said she would be interested on what Freelee has to say about this. What do you guys think?

I think watching any vegan documentary (there are many) or speeches from great activists with her would be good.

Veganism is suitable for all stages of life and has benefits as shown in this article by the ADA

Veganism and calcium/osteoporosis study

I come from a house that thinks it's crazy that I'm vegan, they don't understand it, call it extreme, and offer me meat and dairy all the time... So I can tell you, it's going to be difficult. However, once I went vegan (and more specifically, raw till 4) I felt an immediate difference. I feel like a better person as funny as that sounds. I feel like I am taking moral and ethical responsibility for how shitty we treat our Earth, and I feel that it's very important to spread the message!

Do TONS of research -- I found Youtube especially helpful - watch videos of both sides, find unbiased info, decide for yourself. But let me tell you, vegan is truly amazing and how things should be done. If you educate yourself (which is SO important) you will come to this conclusion too. I understand that you're underage and maybe cannot do whatever you want (I'm only 20 and not that far removed from that time in my life), but what you put in your body is no one else's decision. If you chose to be healthy or to care for our planet, then no one should say that's wrong or you cant. I think the best way to go about it is to educate yourself and then educate your parents, hopefully they will understand.

I hoped this answer was helpful!

P.S. What made me go vegan -- and it's an extremely impressive book in terms of research -- was the book "Proteinaholic: How our obsession with meat is killing us and what we can do about it" By Garth Davis, M.D. I highly recommend it!
