I just read an article saying that healthy women (health was defined as vegan and grain free eating habits) don't have menstruation periods. It was stated that during those days woman's body cleanses and that it shouldn't be like that, it's unhealthy and an unnatural process to our bodies. What do you think about it? I haven't looked more into it yet and I'm just curious what you think about it. As I see it, it really makes sense and yet there are so many healthy women who do have their periods...
How often do you fast?
And yeah, I remember Freelee saying that but it was 7 months, so... I mean, the main idea of this article was that women should NEVER have periods. That's why I'm so interested.
To me, it doesn't seem right that women can have lots of bleeding and painful cramps from periods. The Christians in my family think its punishment for Eve after the fall x.x yeeeah I don't believe that. Freelee has a video on periods. You still have your menstrual cycle and ovulate, just not heavy bleeding and cramps; just no bleeding to minor spotting that lasts like a day to 3 days. As long as you ovulate each month, you still have your period. If not, then something is wrong. We're not supposed to be hemorrhaging, why I can't wait until my heavy bleeding goes away. Its become lighter since going vegan/raw til 4, but the cramps are still as painful as ever. I have an article somewhere in my bookmarks about how women in African tribes barely bleed compared to people in Western society. If I can find it, I'll post it. Its an interesting read.
Yeah, I think the same. But no periods at all?..
By the way, this article noted the absence of periods, not the ovulation. Apparently, the ovulation remains even without periods.
I don't think one should not have a period at all, just extremely reduced bleeding and having a normal cycle. Bleeding for 7-8 days non stop with very painful cramps to the point of curling into a ball and crying doesn't seem normal at all x.x (that's how mine is). We're not meant to NOT have periods, just not the heavy bleeding most in Western cultures have. From what I've noticed on 30Bad, most have their periods for up to 3 days with minimal spotting.
Hmm. Yeah, I believe the tendency is that the healthier you are, the less you bleed...
That's what I think as well now. Mine is slowly going away. Probably would reduce faster if I was fully raw, but financially I can't. Raw til whenever right now (usually between 2-4 pm). Could be why its taking awhile as well as slowly getting healthier. Mine has gone down a bit, lighter periods and bad cramps, but still 7-8 days. Still, its progress! :D
Happy to hear about the progress and good luck getting more fruit into your meals! :))
Thank you ursulae :) I'm eating a lot more fruit than I ever have being on this lifestyle. My family already thinks its weird that I'll eat 1.5 lbs of grapes as a meal or 6 bananas in a row. Rather that than the doughnuts they bought (though I caved and had 1 cake doughnut that is the only vegan doughnut there). I just wish I could afford more organic fruit than conventional, but meh, conventional bananas are cheaper and bigger than the Del Monte organic ones x.x
My situation is quite similar to yours... Everyone around me thinks I'm nuts, hah, but I just keep on eating my bananas and smiling! :))
That's the article I was looking for lol, thanks for posting it.
It's not the one I've read but it is a very similar one.
That's interesting... I always read articles on vegan/raw lifestyle from my regional news websites but none of them ever mentioned loss of periods. I never even knew there are so many women who don't suffer from bleeding! It's just 2-3 months I'm vegan but I'm already feeling the changes - it's not as painful as it used to be. I remember skipping classes because I just couldn't get out of bed and sometimes I even wished I was dead... I hated being a woman. Anyway, I'm better now :)
Thanks for sharing your experience!
Wow..this is very eye opening, thank you. I'm a dude, but I had no idea diet effected any of this. Good to know.
