Taking BC pills absolutely ruined my life for the year that I took them and then some. I gained 20lbs the first month, I had vertigo for the first week (this thing where you feel like you're on a rocking boat and basically can't do anything), my libido disappeared, and being intimate was--well, pointless because it was as though I was numb down there...Anywho, I realized that the reason I was taking them was so I wouldn't have to worry, but after all I went through to be "worry free" I didn't even need them because I was overweight and didn't want to have sex! Ugh. I quit taking them and it took about 6 months for me to get back to my normal, healthy self (down there) again but I'm SO glad I stopped taking them.
To answer your actual question:
Pros= You might not get pregnant (I have not one but two good friends that got pregnant while religiously taking the pill); consistent menstrual cycle
Cons= Decreased libido, sexual arousal disorder, weight gain, swollen/painful breasts, toxic liver, $$, PMS, BPPV (vertigo), I could go on and on and ON!
***Quit taking them, period!
Look into natural forms of BC, Megan Elizabeth's video (link below) helped me a lot. I got a factory reconditioned lady comp that has totally changed my life and I feel like I really understand how my body works :o)
Hope this helps!
There's a lot to be said for abstinence.
Abstinence because of health or religious reasons?
abstinence cos of religion, yes please
perhaps you can spend a little bit of money on an online dating site, and look for a man or multiple men who have had a vasectomy done
Hi, Here is a link to a youtube video made by one of my favourite raw foodies regarding natural birth control. Since watching the video I have stopped taking the pill and followed her advice. I am only a month in though so I cannot comment personally however I hope this helps:
I have an IUD. It is good for 5 years.. it delivers a low dosage of hormones directly to the uterus for the 1st couple of years (per my dr) and the hormones never make it to your blood stream. You can choose the paraguard which is copper and no hormones but because I am a redhead and we have issues with bleeding it can make us bleed more. Anyway.. this was the lowest hormonal BC option and it has caused me no issues what so ever and it is 100x better than BC pills. I know because I was a raging lunatic, basketcase on those things.
Taking hormones = toxic IMHO.
I grabbed a vasectomy back in 2005. I remember talking with a tantric teacher in Thailand and he was saying that its the best thing you can do to never lose any ojas. For me though it sure is great not having to worry about bc no more. Its like going into the farmers market and just taking what you want. Not having to look at the price tags or pull anything out of your wallet. Its just shop till ya drop. ;)
30min operation. How simple can you get. I wish I got it when I was younger. You can just go to Thailand and get it done there if any doctor tells you 'you're too young!'.
Some people want to give their whole life to having kids and I totally respect that. Thats what it takes. Kids require the majority of your energy. Thats not for me. I enjoy our child free lifestyle of do whatever go whatever and with minimal responsibility. Having kids is like the biggest responsibility on the planet. I don't want that responsibility so I got a vasectomy.
couldnt have asked for better feed back. Vicki, Rashid you guys are 100% right, abstinence will be my bc for now. Razitron, that cracked me up at first but your also probably right :) and Amy Elizabeth that Video was spot on, when I do become active again, i will definatly invest in the LadyComp, what an Amazing device, $500 is a little steep but im sure well worth it. Durian hopefully there are more men out there that share the same out look as you, for all our sakes.
