I have been following a HCRV (raw til 4 type vegan diet, i cheat sometimes) for almost a year now. A month ago I quit my job as a bartender at a sushi bar. The money was great but the it came with the price of my soul im afraid. I would be happy working at a vegetarian restaurant but I havent had anything that is worth my time monetarily and spiritually. I would appreciate any help, references, personal job experiences. I live in the phoenix AZ area.
If you're like me, a student working part-time retail jobs, it can be tempting to stay fruitful being around others That aren't so fruitful. One of my jobs is at a clothing store at the mall, and on black friday we had to bring in and share snacks to keep our energy up. The vegan diet isn't really popular at my store, mostly everyone brought in processed junk. I brought in a fruit bowl for myself, and some other processed sugary crap for everyone else. One of my other managers who also eats only vegan brought in a huge salad bowl.
I recently interviewed at an indoor, year-round farmers market. I'm so excited to start working there, hopefully being around a lot of fresh fruits and veggies all of the time will aide in defeating temptation. i think working at a produce market will be a good way to study and learn about the different types of fruits and vegetables that grow locally, so you can have a fresher, healthier variety.
If I were you, I would try looking on craigslist, or even posting that you're available and looking to work in a vegan friendly restaurant/environment.
I have been thinking about going that route. I actually contacted a few of the local farms here in phoenix and I'm planning to visit a few and offer my services. Thank you brother. blessed.
I would love to be closer to farms in my state. Unfortunately, I don't have a car and live in the city. I wouldn't even have known there was an in-door farmer's market less than a mile from my home if I didn't see the job posting on craiglists. I'm positive you'll find what you're looking for.
Have you looked up any CSAs or urban gardens in your area? It might be a long bus ride to one in the city but might be well worth it (my city has one :)).
