30 Bananas a Day!

Have you done a 100 mile run race? What advice would you give me?

There are 30 hours to complete 100 miles, I don't want to take up 30 hours! The less time the  better. It is the right fuel, the right mental focus, the right tempurature, the right amount of rest and training. This October 11, 2014 I have signed up for my first 100 mile run race in Rocky Point, NY (Tesla Hertz Run). In addition, August 17th I will be trying to beat my personal best time of  13:17 at Ironman Mont Tremblant. All on an 80 10 10 lifestyle. I signed up for a 100 because I am hungry for the next big challenge. Have you done a 100 mile run? What training plan did you follow? How did you fuel? Shoe and clothing advice? Tell me all about it!

Hey Carmen,

I have not done a 100mi ultra. I had the chance to pace someone for fifty. My older brother has done a 100mi and tons of other ultras. You can find him on twitter @alexbridgeforth or if you need another way to talk to him. let me know. He loves to talk with people and help people out. I know for fuel he uses tailwind. Shoes and clothes, I have no idea. I'm sure he would love to talk to you.

Since you're already doing Half Ironman distances you probably know how to avoid  hyponatremia but if not you'll need figure out a salt backup system as celery juice won't cut it at the 100 mile distances.

These two just finished 366 marathons in a year.

apples and pears- marathons are not 100 milers. Multi days running- very very different  to a 100 miler- running 350 marathons (with all due respect) in 5-6-7 hours- is not that hard really. pretty do able.

Talk about average speed, technical course endurance, mountain or flat.

100 miles running is a hard task.Put in the work, wich is lots and lots of long (slow) runs, thats the base. 10/15 hour runs in training, back to back runs- 12 hours saturday-10 hours sunday.

Forget the timelap-learn to respect he distance- wanting to rush things will be punished. You will walk the death mars. Everbody thinks they can be Don Ritchie, running  is an adventure =certainly a 100 miler.
