4 days ago I bought a case of green bananas on the market. For unknown reason they were half the normal price. The problem is they are getting spotty, but are still green. There's no yellow on them. I've eaten yellow, spotty bananas with green on ends a few times and they were fine, but what when they are WHOLE GREEN?
I'm worried because yesterday I bought 30lb of ripe cherries and it would be pretty sad if I got sick because of some weird bananas and waste perfect cherries : (
On pic I placed a bunch of yellow bananas to see the contrast.
Hope someone can help!
Thanks in advance.
Just tried one. It tasted a bit starchy and bitter. I guess I'll be better just throwing them away.
Anyone has idea what could have happened to them?
just taste one, you will see if you feel that spotty and green are ripe enough for you. If it's not the case wait. A few month ago, i was eating bananas way less riped than know, my experience and taste evoluate. You won't be ill with tating one unriped banana, probably eating ten of them but you may have difficulties to finish them since there are not going to be that tasty...
but generally if there are still green, there is a great chance there are not riped enough...
And if the quality isn't good- sometimes they're picked too early and won't ripen properly- don't hesitate to take it back for a refund.
Did you buy them from that lousy market Biedronka? Promotional price does not equal good quality. Just buy those ready for smoothies spotty bananas on street markets, you won't get them in chain-markets coz they are binned when about perfect for smoothing. At least hunt for intense-yellow coloured ones.
Thanks you very much for advice, but I am already doing it :) The green nanas I bought in a street market. Saw the price and it looked like bargain. Well, I'll just throw them and stick with buying ripe nanas for reduced price from greengroceries.
