Hi everyone one Im 29 weeks pregnant and my doctor thinks I probaly have gestational diabetes. I refused the glucose test (the one where I would be expected to fast and come into the doctors office with no food or drink in me then drink their gross sugary drink with artificial dyes in it). So instead they had me testing my levels 4 times a day at home for a week. my numbers where anywhere between 80 and 140 after i ate and 80-90 in the morning before food. The only time they were really high (around 300) was the day i drank baking soda water ( I was having trouble digesting my huge meal from the night before) Im sure the baking soda had something to do with it (and I plan to do it again to see if I respond the same) my doctor doesnt think it has anything to do. Shes having me do another week of finger pricking starting tomarrow but is sure I have GD. I guess Im just looking for opinions. She wants me to cut back on carbs (Im not sure if she knows Im vegan) and add more protien and fat, thats really unthinkable for me but I guess well see what happens with the next testing. I think I think Im fine, what kind of advice or experience does everyone have for me?
alittle more info, last time I was testing I was raw till 4. This time Im eating raw (finally warming up over here and getting more fruit). My fasting reading this morning was 75 and 2 hours after eating it was 70. I cant wait to confuse my doctors!! it seems going raw has lowered my numbers significantly (my already good numbers in my opinion).
