So-- I whole heartedly believe all humans should be eating high carb plant based diet. With that, I've also been interested in the variations people have found that work best themselves. Yesterday, I found this site where you can transfer your 23andme data to get personalized diet information. I definitely expected it catered toward Western diet/USDA guidelines and would need to make my own interpretation.
My results weren't anything out of the ordinary. Just a slower than average metabolism, which makes sense for my family. I wonder if anyone else has done this, or would like to do this. It would be great to compare results within our community -- whether you eat more avocado, less calories, extra greens etc etc
For me personally, I think I could tolerate more fat than 10% and even my results say I have a low sensitivity.
Anyway, its interesting...I know listening to our body is number one, but it would be nice to have genetic "hints" to consider.
I have no idea what "23andme" data is. Is it an internet health test?
As far as internet health tests go I don't have much confidence in them. I remember taking one a few years ago after changing my diet and lifestyle. I put some basic info and family history. The test concluded that I was at risk for diabetes and heart disease because I had family members with these things. I'm the only vegan person in my family though lol.
They're probably testing my DNA right now looking for the cause of why i and my family don't absorb b12, i never gave permission for this they just called and said that to me that they would refer me to that i said ok, as in i've heard what you said, i can't think when i'm getting confronted with things i wasn't prepared for, immediately when i hang up the phone i knew no way i don't want this.. but i thought i will get an appointment letter for me to bring dna etc. but now it's more then a month perhaps already 2 months later so i guess they recycled my blood from blood tests that i had done in december (for the search of the cause).. so when they call with the results i will be pissed off demanding that they destroy all my genetic material and all data on my dna and that i get black on white confirmation with live signatures that this has been done.. when i give blood to test x, y and z then i expect the blood to be destroyed or even sent back to me as soon as x, y and z have been tested, there is absolutely no reason, most definitely not one that i give permission for, to store it longer after that.
