30 Bananas a Day!

Hey guys, just after a few of your helpful suggestions!
I recently started a full time office job (it's different from the standard 9-5... which makes it awesome, I love it haha).
Anywayyy, taking enough food along is proving to be an issue for me. I've been quite good with keeping it raw most of the time, but I'm not eating enough. And when I get home I go all out on cooked - which isn't an issue for me, but the way I've been doing it is. I eat a lot of 100% rye bread and potatoes, corn pasta, rice etc. In my head I'm like "ooo carbs, all good" - but I'm getting slack with my 801010 ratios too. I go back to foods with added fats. And I end up going back after dinner to snack on nuts/anything.

What can I do?
It's getting cooler here aka winter fruits.
I have a heap of frozen bananas but not many ripe fresh ones. Couldn't find the 5kg box of dates I used to buy at the markets so my date access is limited... they're so bloody expensive at the shops!

I'd love to know what other people do in similar work situations. I know I need to carb up to stop going back for more fatty foods, but it's tricky.
And It's not practical for me to take a massive salad bowl to work.
Any other lunch ideas? Anyone with the same issue?

How much room do you have for transporting food to work?  Most office folks bring smoothies and datorades.  Otherwise find a restaurant near by that has a salad bar with fruit.

Thanks for replying!
I thought about smoothies but I worry that the nutrients die off over time similar to the way it does in juice.
I know smoothies are more stable than juices, but for how long?

Ya, smoothies are not ideal but they are very practical and perfectly adequate.  Maybe bring a blender to the office coffee break area?  You could start a trend. :)

There's a blender in the canteen kitchen... that just gave me an idea ;)
Need to see if I can BYO fruit and make them blend it up haha

I imagine that drinking a smoothie that's lost some nutrients over the day is far healthier than pounding nuts/anything at the end of the night.  Hours-old smoothie still tastes great (usually!) and is better than corn pasta and whatever dressing or sauce with which it may be served.

I've done the same, becoming undercarbed in the day and returning home to binge on things I didn't even like much but was crazily craving.  I assure you, you'll feel better and still get more nutrients if you take pre-made smoothies to work.  Good luck!

Thanks Kirra!

If I were you I'd get up a little earlier, eat huge straight away, eat again before leaving, take packets of berries with into the office (no scraps or rubbish, not messy, doesn't look weird to other nosey people if you have that worry) and keep food in the car (if you take your car) in a box to eat as soon as your done work, things that would keep on a shelf anyway, and then eat more as soon as you get in the door as well.

Thanks, great suggestions!
I do wake up earlier already. That's when I "attempt" to do some exercise... so I can't eat big before it, but I can after and I do!
But your idea to store food in the car is handy... if I eat sweet on the drive home it should settle me down before dinner!

How much space do you have to bring fruits to work? Do you have a canteen or something that sells fruits near your work place? For me I bring 10-20 bananas in a bag to work everyday.

Not a lot unfortunately. We do have a canteen but they charge $1.50 for ONE piece of fruit, which is obviously not worth it. Bananas are awesome, I just don't have any ripe ones at the moment :(
Haha I might have to work myself up into bringing the trolley out!

Apples are good to take around with you.
