30 Bananas a Day!

I got a question regarding fruits in Spain

I was hoping some of you guys could give me some insights on my questions and maybe where I could find more information about this.
I have been thinking about taking a vacation to Spain for 2-3 months this winter - from November to January and living primary on oranges..

But I have absolutely no idea, if it’s even possible to live on oranges (mostly) .. I mean, if we can get enough of them or that the oranges they are producing are been exported to other countries such as my own :o

I was wondering, if any of you in here, have any suggestions to where the fruit might be best? And also what fruits will be in season from November to February.

Also, what places in Spain that would be best to stay regards the best fruit quality (organic preferred)

I don’t know much about Spain, So some insights would be greatly appreciated.

Heey Cecilie, I guess i could use danish langauge instead ? :D

Det lyder da utroligt fedt! Har sååå mange spørgsmål vedr. Spanien!
Hvad koster det at bo billigt i Spanien? or hvad koster det generelt at leve "all raw" on the fruits?

Jaa..

Anyways..!

Vild oplevelse..

Tusinde tak for alle de brugbare oplysninger, Cecilie! Sætter jeg stor pris på! :)

I read an article (don't remember where) ab Spain, where if you travel be car and see an 'abandoned' fruit orchard (or even not-so-abandoned),there is a "law" of "pick as much as you can carry-and-run".It seems quite legitimate to fill your car-boot with oranges and speed off as fast as you can.
There are apparently many really abandoned and not cared for fruit/orange orchards, where the kids have inherited from parents and stopped farming and moved to towns. This would be a good idea for communal fruit farms too,I think.
It sounds funny, does it not?I cannot remember the exact term for it,though,I wish I could.I do not know if it works all over Spain, though.
My hubby picked up and ate 'the best figs ever' from 'abandoned' no-man's land one september, even if he does not much care for fruit. They must have been exceptional in that case. That was in south of Spain near Malaga.
I suppose there are oranges growing all over but the names that come to mind are SEVILLE and VALENCIA,as far as oranges are concerned.
Then there is the TROPICAL coast, which is nearer to South-West,in the South of Spain, which is a pocket of a micro-climate in itself (even in winter time) and can support all tropical fruits one can think of,I don't know ab Durian, though, but you can google Costa Tropica.
Cecilie Malene seems to have found a great place for fruits too.

Thanks for sharing, Meadow! Sounds epic!
That tropical coast your talking about? Can you be more specific about that? i would loooove to hear more about it ! Does it have a name or something? or can you point out a city where its located?
Would be awesome! thanks!

Costa Tropical is in Granada province.Ab one hours drive from Gran, down south.

It stretces from Herroduro)?) from west to Motril in the east.Salobrena and Almunecar being some towns in between.

They say the weather there (Costa Tropical) is hot even in winter, where one hour drive up in Granada it can be really cold.In fact it is the hottest place in Europe in winter says one source here on net.Have you heard ab MICRO CLIMATE?Like a hot spot in a cold area.Only thing is that it can be very crowded as it is prob a tourist hot'spot as well.

I have not been there,I'm only finding things out from the net as I'm moving to Spain next year.

I hope there are some Spaniards or people who live in that area and can tell us more about it.

That sounds sooo awesome! I'm for sure going to check that out later today! thanks ! :)

Don't worry about eating every orange grown in Spain. There are so many of them that there are stores selling  oranges and nothing else!

Most are grown in the south but it is easy to buy them even in the north.

Sounds great! Thanks a lot for the info!

Is Spain THE place to be as far as organic fruit price-quality wise in europe? cause i'm locked into europe.

It's at least the most south you can get with a european id card isn't it?

If one is looking for the most southern (geographically) you can go with European card then it will be The Canary Islands which fall under Spanish territory.

Sorry, I do not know ab organic fruit availability/prices etc.
