30 Bananas a Day!

Food sensitiviy testing results, and its impact on our food choices.

There is a lab located in the us that tests for food sensitivities.  Food sensitivities(FS) are not like allergies.  FS can affect you up to 3-4 days after you have eaten the food.  You would never know the food in question is an issue for your body.

The lab's name is alcat.   www.alcat.com

I did the top test they have, it tests for 320 items, 200 foods, along with molds, medication and herbs.  I also added an extra superfood panel to it as well.

There are foods that are red to you (must avoid for 6 months), orange to you (must avoid for 3-6 months) and foods that are yellow to you (eat, but try to avoid for 3 days afterwards).

The basic idea is that we should all rotate our foods, not eat the same things all the time.  For some reason our bodies can start to attack certain foods it sees all the time and cause inflammation.

Red foods for me.  (I am not going to list animal foods at all since i've been vegan almost 5 years, but some did show up as well)

artichokes, canola oil, chick peas, dates, ginger, hops, kidney bean and radish.

Orange foods.

black beans, brewers yeast, broccoli, cardamom, carob, coconut, malt, mango, olive, parsley and string bean.

Yellow foods, there are too many to list, but i'll put in the big ones.

almonds, bananas!, bell peppers, black pepper, cabbage, carrot, grapes, green peas, honeydew melon, oranges, pears among 20-30 others.

Ok so what does this mean to everyone?  Well according to alcat we should all use a rotation type of diet.  eat rice for a day or two, but then try and avoid if for a few days, for example.

I currently can have bananas, but have to wait to eat them again for 3 days.

Many foods on my list like chick peas, olives, mangos, string beans, dates and bananas are things that i used to eat a lot of.  But there are foods on my list that i barely ever ate.

Some things your body might outright have a sensitivity to regardless of how often you eat it, most other things are because of eating the same foods too often without a break.

Now eating seasonally would help to alleviate such issues as this.  For example, apples, pears and persimmons are in season here in Maryland in the us.  So i'll eat lots of persimmons for now, knowing that after they are gone i won't touch them for many months.  Giving my body, if it even needed it, a break from them so as to not cause a FS issue.

There were many other things on this test, such as many herbs i have to cycle now as well.

It is not a cheap test at all.  I was able to get it discounted by getting my wife's boss, a chiropractor, to sign up with them and therefore get a huge discount.

My wife and son did this test as well.  It has been since october.  It was very hard at first to figure out what at all any of us can eat, and even harder, something all 3 of us can eat together.

We'll be retesting around june and see what the results are.

One note,  my wife can't have rice at all.  By accident a few weeks ago, she had some hazelnut milk with brown rice syrup in it.  She had the worst stomach pains of her life.  This is a women who ate rice all the time throughout her life.  But taking a clean break from it for about 2 months, allowed her body to detox from it, and one tiny amount of it in some milk caused her massive pains.

I would be very scared to eat anything red or orange to me at all right now.  I know i had some ginger in a vegan pho by accident recently, and i had stomach pains as well.

Anyways, long-winded, but i wanted to share with everyone about FS and this testing and what it might mean for all people, who in essence eat the same things all the time.  Maybe we should try and rotate our foods more often.

I decided to upload my test as well.

I also got the ALCAT test done a few months ago, and I find that there is quite a few false positives and possibly some false negatives as well.  After getting the test results, I tested out some of the red, orange, and yellow foods, and I must say that overall, having these results has not improved my life all that much much.  Although I know some people for whom the alcat has been a great help.

Unless you had your inflamation markers tested during the times you were not eating any red/orange foods and when you were, it will be hard to really tell what is going on inside your body.

The longer you take off from eating your red and orange foods the more time your body has to detox from it.  If you didn't do it for 6 months, it will be hard to tell.

I'll update this thread as I move along.
