Here is my opinion :)
It's not a protocol I would recommend to most people, as it would be darn near impossible to create much less drink enough juice for adequate calories for most folks.
People love to eat, and it would be a far easier sell for them to simply start eating as much low fat, carb rich whole food as they like. It's been proven to work time and again.
That said, I found it extremely watchable and inspiring as to what healing is possible when somebody is willing to work for it. Worth showing to someone in serious condition to give them hope, then say, "it doesn't even need to be as challenging as this. Let me show you how you can achieve the same benefits and still enjoy chewing" :)
made with good intentions, and perhaps not so good outcomes. juice-feast to cleans and loose weight? way to drive yourself up a freak'n tree. you don't need to cleans if you are on the clean and healthy low fat high carb vegan diet, same for loosing excess weight.
btw did he even go vegan to maintain the health after juice feast? I don't think so...
Yes he went vegan for 60 days after his 60 day juice fast or something like that its been a little while since I have seen the film. That was the first documentary I saw that planted the seed in my head about fruits and veggies getting rid of health problems. It led me here! It is a bit sad Joe doesnt keep up being vegan and the program that got him in great shape and healthy and now is regressing like DR and BG have pointed out.
That's what I thought. It would have been great if he stayed vegan and promoted the plant based lifestyle, but he did not. It was a great campaign promoting juicers though lol...
the message it did scream tho was that if you get your nutrition from fruits and veggies and drop that weight many of your health problems vanish. People simply have no idea how many of there ailments can be cured by fixing there diet alone. Change what you eat and it changes everything else.
any diets a gimmick tho if you dont stick with it. Someone could do this diet loose all the weight and go eat pizza gain it all back and go oh gee 811 doesnt work you just gain it all right back.
omg that was so funny....thank you Adam
I'm embarrassed to say that I'm definitely one of those people who juice fasted for an extended period of time and totally freaking lost control of my appetite and seriously lost control of my appetite afterwards. God, I thought I was the only one who suffered that problem with juice fasting; I was relieved to see 30bad speak out against it and it helped me to realize I was up against something too primal in my psyche to tackle on my own to be conquered with fasting. But really the great majority of people I know who have juice feasted are not slender now.
