I know fasting is not condoned or supported by 30bad, however I have a question. Freelea says your eating can become uncontrollable after coming off of a fast and you may eat things you don't want to.
My experience is different...when I fast I want only fruits and vegetables. When I come off the fast I am very well prepared with lots and lots of fruit. Has anyone else had this experience?
I'm not condoning fasting, just curious.
Oh cool, someone else who likes Shelton! He's definitely the guy to read to learn about fasting.
My first long fast was 26 days; I couldn't have done it without reading his book 'Fasting and Sunbathing' at the soil and health library. (http://soilandhealth.org/) It's everything you need to know to fast safely, and break your fast with minimum 'turbulence'.
Supervised fasting is obviously ideal, but not everyone can either afford, or is able to access a fasting retreat. The next best thing is to follow Shelton's advice to the letter, and also trust the intelligence of your own body.
Glad to hear people talking like that! I am also only for a true water fast. Everything else isn't the same!
Eating 80/10/10 can help severe conditions like MS as well. Considering most severe conditions are a result of a lack of carbs, lack of other nutrients, lack of sleep (not eating enough calories can contribute to insomnia), lack of fiber etc it seems illogical that a fast could help, in any other way than by recycling the nutrients with-in the body once starvation kicks in or giving people the "starvation high" which is essentially an emergency response.
Hey Pixie, you should definitely check out some of Herbert M Shelton's work and listen to Doug Graham himself speak about his fasting retreat and some of the miraculous recoveries people have made in very little time through proper fasting. Doug Graham has also given many amazing lectures on fasting and how it works. It really is just that: miraculous. There's no better word for it. The science is very abundant in this field, so if you're actually curious about how eliminating digestion completely frees up abundant nerve energy which speeds up healing like nothing else on earth, have a peak at some of Shelton's literature. :) We are a species designed to fast (when absolutely necessary) without question, it is why we lose our appetites when sick.
Yep! A couple of Doug Graham's fasting lectures:
And here is an online book encompassing much of Shelton's work and related fasting research that just has a huge amount of scientific data and information pertaining to fasting. Any possible question you could have is answered here, and it's well indexed too for easy-navigating. :)
Really interesting stuff! Herbert M Shelton is THE natural hygiene pioneer. He is one of Doug Graham's idols. Natural hygiene and fasting do go hand in hand, which is probably why Doug Graham runs his own fasting center now in Costa Rica!
Have you tried eating two really big fruit meals and stop eating at 5pm and get your early nights of sleep in? I noticed that I graze all day long and all night and I'm not giving my body to digest everything I've eaten nor go to bed early.
