They're both playing this afternoon and are both expected to win their matches, if that is the case then they will play each other in the last 32 round on Tuesday which I'm sure the BBC will bill it as the clash of the vegans.  Should be interesting.

Hopefully he does it for the right reasons...

I personally don't care for peoples reasons for switching to vegan, I am unaware of his reasons but he did indicate in the short interview it was fitness motivated and to prolong his longevity in his sport.

I'd rather people switched vegan for the wrong reasons than not switch at all, motivation is irrelevant when the desired result is a positive one.

The reasons why people do things are hugely important.

One man is faithful to his wife because he loves his family. Another man has been faithful to his wife up to this point because he hasn't had an opportunity where he can cheat and get away with it.

Most all people who "try veganism", try it and go back, because they do it for the wrong reasons. Perhaps they look at it as something to try, a fad, or they don't care about animals or long term health, its more about trying to lose weight, or some sort of short term performance/experiment. Then after a short time, they go on to the next thing.

The people who embrace veganism as a lifestyle are much more inclined to stick with it long term. The reasons why he is doing it matter a lot.

Your unfaithfulness analogy has negative implications whereas someone adopting veganism has positive implications so I don't see the relevance as I stated my point was when the desired result is a positive one.

It seems you deem the reasons as important for the success of his sticking with the lifestyle which is a fair point but you can start on the journey for one reason and then find further reasons for sticking with it as you progress which weren't necessarily why you started in the first place, after all, life is a series of consequences and one consequence is his fellow snooker professional, Peter, started on this journey nearly 3 years ago and Neil has talked to him about it and decided to adopt it himself.

The real positive thing about it is that it is being discussed on BBC

Not sure why you feel like trying to argue with me, rather than just agreeing with me. My point is valid "Hopefully he is doing it for the right reasons". People who go vegan as "something to try", or "because of a few articles they read" often times try it for a while then quit. Since I believe a vegan diet is best for optimal health, I hope he doesn't fall into that category. A lot of times people have a hard time sticking with it because they can't get over the "fear of being different"...he mentions something to that effect himself.

He's been at it for 2 weeks...hopefully he sticks with it for a bit longer than that. Whatever he decides its his life and I wish him the best...I'm not emotional about it either way. Its a cool article, thank you for sharing.

Good on him, and Peter for sharing.

What was the match result?

Neil won 6-5 and Peter won 6-1 so they will play each other tomorrow afternoon, unfortunately Ronnie O'Sullivan is also playing so his match will be the main feature for the telly.

Awesome!!! :D

Fellow 30BaD member Peter Ebdon has been out there with his vegan message and we are now seeing the results!  Way to go Peter!  Let's keep up our comments in support on youtube!

Is there a place to make comments on any BBC news about the vegans?
