30 Bananas a Day!

Hello, friends!

So one thing that I've really struggled with in starting and staying raw is budgeting my money for it while in college. I once tried to do Fully Raw Kristina's meal plan but my money for the next month on groceries was pretty much gone in the first few days, (this was totally poor planning on my end). I still want to try to get a variety of nutrients while still being able to afford Raw but it has really been a struggle for me.

Does anyone have advice on this? Mono meals are a real help during this, as not only is it simple when I don't have time to prep anything, it's pretty cheap to eat an entire meal of mangoes ;).

I live in the Midwest, (Western Illinois during the summer and Metropolitan Chicago during the school year), and during the winter months fresh food gets pricey and hard to choose from.

Let me know your thoughts :).

Are there any wholesale produce terminals there? That way you can buy in bulk and get the lowest prices. Plus they usually have fruit that is ripe and almost ready to throw out and you can get that for next to nothing. hope that helps!

Hi, Scott! Thanks for the reply.

I do not know even where to begin to look for one to be honest. I tried to google it but didn't find much- is there any resource that lists what is in your area?

Thanks--

Google would be your best bet. There might not be one in your area. I live close to LA and they have one there.

Hey!

I would say start with bananas.. I call the local food co op and special order a case or two of them. I usually get around 40lbs of bananas for $32. That's about 90-100 bananas. I'm not fully raw now, but that seems to be the cheapest way for me when I have fully raw days.

Always buy in bulk and eat  with the seasons. In the winter I stick with a lot of citrus, summer I eat melons, fall I eat lots of apples, ect. Bananas are a great year round cheap staple. Super markets will also sell you their produce thats "going bad" very cheap ( when in reality its actually ripe). Try to find a local community garden ( or better yet if you have yard space) and grow your own veggies, greens, fruit, ect ( WAY cheaper to grow your own than to buy it).
