Common bananas are too low in Vitamins A, B1, E and K, calcium, iron, phosphorus, zinc, alpha-linolenic acid (Omega 3), isoleucine, leucine, lysine, threonine and valine. So the answer is NO, it is probably not okay to just eat bananas for the rest of your life.
i have been doing mono banana diet about 30-40 a day for a week now, i LOVE IT. but i also include a large salad at night with a head of romaine, celery, tomato, and whatever else i have to add. i think bananas are ok as a single source for fruit, but i would not advise just eating the bananas without adding tender greens.
No doubt about the greens!
How about adding like one type of entertainment fruit/week? Like for this week, bananas and apples only (with greens of course)? Then the week after next, dates with apples (with greens). Then the week after next, bananas and oranges? Only two different fruits, and rotate my staple on a weekly basis?
In nature, you'd probably eat mono meals but several different fruits every day, if that's what you're aiming at. Try and find out what feels and works best for you in your everyday life. Don't overthink/overanalyze. Have fun :-)
sounds pretty boring not to mention unbalanced nutrient wise
While for the first few weeks, we sometimes recommend new members to eat banana island and or mono meals of fruit in order to help their digestive problems, this should not be a life long habit.
One should eat the rainbow over the course of days, weeks, and months. Eating mono meals of fruit are wonderful for digestion, and even a few mono days of one fruit. But no fruit is a perfect fruit, and in order to avoid deficiencies, one needs to eat a variety of fruits through out the year, and lots of leafy greens.
nice to see you again, Jayme :)

I dont think this is smart...and i dont really put bananas on a pedestal above other fruits and veggies...i think they are great but for me its hard to pick which fruit/veggie i like the best and which one is best for me. There are so many great raw vegan foods out there...i saw have fun and include many of them. I am not a fruitarian and probably never will be since I love veggies but I dont mean to judge or anything :)
Who on earth is gonna JUST EAT BANANAS THE REST OF THEIR LIFE LOL!
Thats like asking 'is it ok just to walk on the cracks of the side walk or walk with my left hand on my head and the right hand on my tummy?'
Bananas grown in Malaysia, Florida, Australia etc are going to have more or less of various nutrients. Thats why we like other fruits too.
People that want to live on just one fruit, they fail epically. Its not the fruit fault, its just that they have gone a little 'bananas' mentally and are doing silly stuff.
