30 Bananas a Day!

Eating 10+ bananas in front of people (Strangers, co-workers, peers, at restaurants)

Do you guys do it? Where don't you do it? What about at restaurants?

I find it so hard to take out 10 bananas from my backpack in school and eat them in class. Or sit in the brake room and eat a few bunches of bananas in front of my co-workers.

I'm finding it challenging to eat enough with my apprehensions to eating a LARGE volume in front people and since I like to talk (I'm a chatter box) I can't find time to eat so much when i'm around people, i just want to TALK.  I'd love to just take 30 bananas with me when I leave the house for the day and eat them whenever I want, Instead of making a smoothie, and i would love to not feel any anxiety about taking them out and eating them in class or at work. 

I'm very busy now (Which is a huge change) and I'm only at the house for a few hours each day (excluding sleeping), meaning I have to eat in front of people when I'm not used to doing so. A smoothie just seems like I'm trying to hide my diet, when I don't want to! I want to share with others.

I had to go through last year with friends and co-workers. The questions/concerns die down after the first few times they see you eating that much. Don't have anxiety over it! If you like to talk so much, tell em why you eat this way!

And don't get down or feel embarrassed if they give you a hard time. I would've done the same thing to you once upon a time. Why? Because I was ignorant and scared of change. Translation: Don't fear their fear and stupidity.

Hey Alison :) Thanks for replying. You helped me last time with my mindset to deal with social anxiety. it's become a lot better now and I'm finding I can talk to people with an ease I didn't have before. 

What other kinds of food do you bring to class? I think bringing a bag to put all my banana peels in would be helpful if I ate them in class, so I don't make a mess :) I also have two 2.5 hour classes (5 hours total), with a combined break time of 30 minutes and I usually just sip on a smoothie, but that gets boring. I think I'm worried about it because of judgments others might have, or people think I'm insane. I don't want to feel this way - which is why I'm seeking guidance. (:  

Do you find you can get enough calories with the clementines/pineapple/mango? Often when I eat under 2,500, I get depressed and lazy. Also, hold me to the promise that I'll eat lots of bananas in front of my co-workers during my 15 minute work break tomorrow. :) I need someone to keep me accountable :P

it takes guts but i sit there and just go for it.
some people give judgmental looks, but it shows who's open minded - some people come up and start conversations about it out of curiosity:) 

I do this at work all the time and find it hilarious. People don't bug me really.. just make comments like "OMG ARE YOU EATING ALL THAT!!??" as they wolf down 6,000 calories in pepperoni pizza.

Try warming up to it, in circumstances progressing gradually more communicative and personal.  Perhaps start in a park, then maybe a mall or an airport, then a casual restaurant, and beyond.  

Eventually you may find it's no big thang :)

Now that said, certain circumstances may dictate slightly more decorum such as weddings or fancy restaurants.  But even in such cases, there's an answer such as calling ahead and making arrangements with management to either bring your own food (brought in discretely and served in a classy container) or have something special prepared for you.

Thanks Windlord :) It's funny, It's easier for me to eat in places like parks and malls but in settings where I'm trying to meet people and make friends, I find it harder. 

I don't consider eating a smoothie as trying to hide my diet, at all!

I find when I go out in public it is just much easier to eat a smoothie all around. It's portable (no bruising) and discreet (not that I'm hiding, but like you said, pulling out 3 bunches of bananas IS a sight to see), and I like that I can eat it while socializing or just munch over the course of the day.

I dunno, I just find it the easiest route to take when I have to eat lunch in public. I am proud to eat the way I do, I totally chat up 80/10/10 with the shocked cashiers when I buy cases of bananas, but I just find it more convenient to eat smoothies when on the move, or at work.

If I'm going somewhere for dinner I just bring an enormous salad and eat it all to myself. haha

I get self-conscious "chain-eating" bananas around strangers. I think it might look like I have an eating disorder or something. I've explained my diet to my friends so I'm alright around them, though they still think it's bizarre! Lol.

  Yeah Ive gone through the same thing...You just have to bust out..I work with a bunch of machos who made a the obvious banana jokes, and they still ask me how Im doing with all the bananas..But i work circles around them while their drinking red bull after red bull...Hang in there buddy... YOU ARE CHANGING THE WORLD!!
