30 Bananas a Day!

On a few occassions this month I have woke up in the night with a dry mouth. It happened again last night, but this time when I woke in the morning my tongue had a burning sensation and some bumps on it - like eating too much of an unripe pineapple. What is causing this dry mouth? Is it related to detox or a deficiency? I have been eating melons, figs, bananas, lettuces, peaches, tomatoes, califlower, sometimes papaya. I have incorporated some celery today thinking that maybe it is linked to a lack of sodium. Any thoughts? THANKS!

Thanks, this is what I have been doing. Today it is much better. I just wonder what it was so I can prevent it from occuring again.
I had the problem, thought it was detox. Turned out that I was allergic to the new toothpaste I was using!

Hi Steve,

I see you posted this some years back, but I am experiencing the same thing-dryness in general actually-dry hands (they look all wrinkly like Ive been bathing a long time) dry lips and dry mouth especially at night my throat burns its so dry, I am drinkig around a litre of water in a night time just to quench my thirst. Anyone have any thoughts around what to do? My diet is dates, bannnas, coconut water and greens with some tomatoes, courgette, oranges and apples. No salt or overt fats and I have been doing this for 4 weeks now 100%. Thank you!

Hi Fran,

Wow! This is an old post.  I can't say I recall much of the incident.  It did pass and from what I remember rather quickly.  Never knew what really caused it.  I don't consume cauliflower - and as I look back that could have been causing some of the mouth issues.  It is easy for the skin to dry out in the winter months, but I have noticed that it is much better as a fruitarian and I haven't dealt with dry skin like I did years ago.  As for dry lips, I always find coconut oil to work wonders.

this happens to me every time i eat pineapple lol

You diet sounds like it should not be a reason for what you have described. There are several good articles that define possible causes of Xerostomia that you can google for, I found this one which may give you some better perspective. In addition, you have mainly named the fruits or vegetables that you have been consuming, what about your water intake? This could be a light dehydration, something not to worry too much about, but it is wiser to watch yourself.
