30 Bananas a Day!

Does anyone have experience or opinions about drinking tea?

Also is raw honey allowed on this plan?

I have been sipping a hot non caffiented tea before bed that is peppermint, papya, and senna leaf with a little raw honey before bed and it seems to relax me.....it has a slight cleansing effect, is this ok?

+1 on the honey-fact

ok thank you bear with me just learning all of this and doing my reading please be patient with my questions. I thank you all for your knowledge and advise.

I drink all kinds of fruit teas, before 80/10/10 i used to dink lots of english tea with soy milk but gave it up.

Cold brewed tea...as in sun tea? That sounds interesting. Where do you get the hibuscus?

Wait.. go back to the Oz part.

Means Australia.  It's what some people who live there call it, from what I've been told.

You can usually find hibiscus in Mexican stores.  It will be labeled Jamaica... which is pronounced Huh-micah in Spanish.

thank you

about the honey:

why honey is not vegan

why it is unhealthy A

about the tea (specifically green tea):

(and following)

i don't care for teas because i think water is quite nice myself, but when i have tried it i could never stand the hot stuff. i didn't mind just letting it soak in water though as said has suggested in this thread. apart from potential antioxidants some teas may have, i'm not sure there are any benefits.

however, you might go here:

http://nutritionfacts.org/

and try looking for tea (it is an excellent site, btw with some superb information on many things).

there is likely some research done by someone which will probably find some isolated component to have beneficial effects somehow. i'm not sure whether this sort of thing has much merit because the logic is too superficial and goes something like this: X contains A and A is beneficial, therefore X is beneficial (generalization: composition fallacy). in fact, there are even studies that show caffeine in small quantities can be beneficial for certain conditions.

however, imho, the sensible way to look at it is that if you eat and live right, you shouldn't have 'certain conditions' and therefore won't need to counter these with tea or algae or mushroom extracts or wheatgrass or deer droppings or who knows what else!

That was a lot of info to reference thank you for going to all that trouble.

I see no problem with giving up honey..........I did not realize it was not vegan, as I said I am learning. Going for tea was one of the things I do with my son (who is vegan but not raw) I will just opt for something I like without sweetner.

I do not care for green tea. I much prefer teas that are of flowers and herbs, fruits. I do enjoy from time to time a red tea. I do not drink for the caffeine at all. Most of what I drink does not contain any. I do live in the USA midwest so in winter is nice to sip something warm rather than just room temp water. (my description of tea is anything that has been steeped with heated water either from the sun or in a kettle)

hi dee!

no problem with not knowing honey isn't vegan - there are many people (including vegans) who like to say it is using excuses like "we don't want to make it difficult for potential vegans [so let's consider it vegan even though it ain't]". :D

so it's good to see how you take a stand with such commitment!

i couldn't stand green tea actually, though i did feel amused to see the waiters cleanup the tables with it. :D

i agree with your description of tea. it is a very appropriate one, imho.

anyway, have fun here! i think you'll like the place and the people ... and that feeling will be returned in kind!

in friendship,

prad
