This is something I was thinking about over the weekend.
During the past 3 months of fruit munching I seem to go through phases ...
I try to add variety to my diet, to keep swapping and changing a mixture of different fruits/ lettuce for vitamins and minerals. However, after doing this for say a week, I always end up going back to my 'regular' items (mango, banana, romaine lettuce, oranges, melon). After another few weeks of eating the same things, I realise I've not got much variety in my diet, so I'll try again and this goes on until this present day.
Sometimes I wonder whether eating a variety is imprinted in my brain because growing up as a veggie then onto vegan, I always had people telling me I needed a balanced diet and that i need more 'variety' to be healthy, healthy is what I aim for ... so, i was wondering whether anyone else over analyses their food in this way (or just me, lol?), or whether you just follow your taste buds and whatever is the norm for you?
love & light :)
Even when I was eating a typical SAD diet, I don't think I had much variety either. I would eat cereal or bread in the morning. Sandwich or veggies with rice at lunch with a sweet potato and fruit. dinner would be either fish or chicken with a starch and a salad. so in essence it comes to the same thing in variety's terms.
Yeah, it is mad our little comfort zone's we put ourselves in with food. :)
i like where this led to. that makes a lot of sense that eating only 1 fruit at a time and then switching to another for the variety. 100 different fruits, right? this would be a fun challenge. i suppose i'll start out by going to florida this weekend and seeing what i can buy cheaply down there. hopefully more than just bananas :P
I've decided to write down every different fruit and veg I've eaten for a year, just to see how many different types I eat, I've started it from Saturday 24th November 2012 because I can still remember what I've had to eat since then :) Will be interested to see what the outcome is!
