I see a lot of people on this side with some delicate insides. Even the most seemingly committed followers of the HCRV diet, or even raw till 4 diet seem to complain of tummy troubles. Especially bloating, and stomach cramps. Many times it seems to have to do with incorrect food combinations, or maybe just their digestive system adapting.
I myself have yet to experience this though. Is it because I'm not 100% raw…or do i just have a gut of steel? I will often eat 8 bananas in the morning, then snack on some stuffed grape leaves, then eat a whole zucchini and some kale, then eat 3 large papayas 2 bananas. All while drinking water before,during and after the meal. I'm not exactly fallowing standard 81010 or raw till 4 diet procedures. I'm doing a lot of things that supposedly would cause bloat/discomfort, but i have yet to experience ANY of this.
The strange thing is certain foods will straight up jack up my body. I can't have any amount of dairy (i have been lactose for as long as i remember), i can't eat chocolate (not even raw), and nuts jack up my digestive track too.
But i'll eat fruit/rice/veggies/pasta/citrus/tomatoes in copious amount at random times through out the day and my stomach seems unaffected. The only time i ever bloat is after a huge smoothie, and it never lasts more than an hour. Am i just lucky? Or is my belly just resilient from me putting all kinds of cooked food into it for so many years?
Awesome! =) Good for you. Keep it high-carb, sister!
Thanks for sharing this, Sky. I haven't had discomfort like others described going raw. In comparison to the woes I suffered while SADing, I've called this smooooooooth sailing. :}
my only prob was when i ate mangos that were goin bad and my stomach was all bloated for like a day and then it went away.. otherwise i never have a problem either
i just ate two whole cucumbers + a spaghetti squash /w low sodium tomato sauce!
yeah i have very little issues either. I got nailed juicing collard greens then going for a run once. But really all the typical dont eat this for digetstion issues never applies to me. I think a lot of folks here are sensitive for whatever reason so theres a lot of guidelines that seem to cater to that. but really arent applicable to me.
i can agree with the idea "do what works for you". though others seem to have more complex reasons for proper food combining. C:
nice to know I'm not the only one!
Lucky!!! I have to monomeal almost every meal and still have a lot of bloating.... :/ Guess I just have to be patient as my GI gets strong. Hopefully as strong as yours one day....
oh i am sorry, that must be tough. I'm sure you'll make it through though.
It's both. You have a strong stomach/digestive constitution but if you ate totally HC/LFRV you would become more sensitive over time to other things. The better you eat the more benefits you get, you can read about the how and why of proper food combining here: http://www.rawfoodexplained.com/digestive-physiology-and-food-combi...
BTW if you read through the link you'll see that proper food combing applies to everyone whether you feel any symptoms or not.
i will look forward to reading this. thanks for sharing.
Can't speak for all, but when I have bloating issues, it's caused by my pants/belt being too tight. Remembering to loosen it after or before a meal helps the food move. Even slight pressure around the belly and waist could cause a stir.
