30 Bananas a Day!

Hello everyone!  =)

So, I have been 100% LFRV for a while now, and really enjoying it. I seriously don't want to go back to anything cooked. Yet a dilemma has come up. I was invited to participate in a volunteer work consisting of building houses for people with scarce resources in isolated villages of Panama. I really want to help with this, but I couldn't possibly take fruit for 5 days without it spoiling unless they are dates--and there's no raw dates in Panama. I'm sure the meals that will be served will be typical Panamanian fare, such as fried tortillas with cottage cheese and sausages for breakfast; lots of rice (cooked with a powder called "Gallinita Maggi," which is a mix of dehydrated chicken broth, salt, MSG and spices), lentils and chicken or meat; sancochos (soups involving different tubers and some type of meat); tamales (baked corn and chicken); et cetera...  What would you do in this situation?

go for the volunteering! so many times i didnt to certain things, or i made it really difficult for myself, because of this reason and i regret that.

life is what it is and it's a good thing to accept your limits and circumstances and start from that.

at least this is my opinion and experience.

( and you can just eat rice ?.)

by the way, in isolated villages in panama they probably do have fruits, it's tropical place no?

best wishes and good luck

Oh, I forgot to mention something about the rice. It's very common for rice in Panama to be cooked with a powder called "Gallinita Maggi," which is a mix of dehydrated chicken broth, salt, MSG and spices. =(

Maybe the best choice would be to take (cooked) dates, sunmaid raisins, dried figs, and other dried fruits.

I agree with all of these posts. If it's something you really want to do, do it! The point of this lifestyle is that it should be liberating, and give you more opportunities to do amazing things. You'll be able to find fruit, and even if not you can still eat cooked carbs or something. Bring dates for sure and even if they're cooked its still much better than the alternative. Best of luck! :)

Good thoughts above.  Just keep your peepers open; fruit will present itself, possibly even in people's backyards you can ask to buy.

Also ask this gal, who works with sea shepard in some challenging circumstances, but still manages as best a 811 lifestyle as possible:
