I made it through the winter without getting sick! I'm impressed and have to attribute it to being LFRV since October. Just to give you some contrast last year was brutal for me- I had colds, the flu, AND pneumonia! Prior to that I can't remember having a cold-free winter, ever.
My whole family got the regular sickness this winter though. I didn't avoid them at all. I would kiss them and share drinks with them etc. It was as if I was challenging the bugs to try and get me. I guess I just wanted to make sure I was exposed and put this lifestyle to the test.
I love hearing my wife tell our friends and family how I didn't get sick at all when they inquire how I've been feeling on my 'diet'. I can see it's making an impact.
Anyway, I'm just curious how everyone else fared through the cold/flu season this year?
When I were raw for 2 years without any cold or something like that, I thought I was invincible. But one day I went out in the 5 degrees celcius, windy and rainy weather with just a shirt on
AND painted with enamel paint for 30 minutes, that a good friend of mine suspiciously got prostate cancer from.
ot sick for almost 2 weeks after that but could still work during that time.
What I learned from this lesson? I'm still a human when it comes to dangerous chemicals. ;)
Excellent! This past fall was the first time in over a year that I was eating SAD food again, it was also the first time in over a year, that I got sick, coincidence?....
1 - Don't eat SAD food, even vegan - I already knew it, heck even most SAD eaters know the processed food is junk
2 - Even when a doctor tells you that you need to eat this and that for recovery, and they mean well, use your own knowledge to judge anything anyone else tells you.
So now I have time under my belt where I never got sick at all (as compared to a few times per year, every year). I also have a quick reverting to the old pattern of regularly scheduled feeling rotten, when eating SAD food again.
“Today at 95 years of age, Jack is extremely flexible and has a will and mind as sharp as a tack. His wife Elaine, herself active, fit and svelte at 84, says she has known Jack for 60 years and has never known him to be sick.”
-Robert Kennedy, Owner of Muscle Mag and many other fitness magazines
According to this quote Jack Lalanne wasn't sick in 60 years of eating a plant-based diet.
It would be great if the website developers for this website would allow people to post a website poll that kept track of responses.
I mentioned earlier that I have not been sick in a decade. To add a little more information I have not been LFRV for that time. Just vegan. I have tried to follow a low fat vegan diet during those 10 years with lots of green leafy veggies and green smoothies. I think that is even more impressive, because I have not even being doing the healthiest diet possible. I have eaten processed food in those past 10 years and everything, but have stuck to a primarily vegan diet. Avoiding dairy products is so incredible for your overall health and immune system.
Since I went vegan, over one year ago I haven't been sick. I've been 90% lfrv. There have been some instances when I woke up and I was getting some symptoms, but they would vanish before reaching noon. Before that I was famous in my family because I was never missing an opportunity to catch the cold. When I point this to my family and friends they acknowledge it, but they still think I'm crazy, and don't consider applying to their eating habits. You can come to people with all sort of clear facts and science and everything...the brainwashing is to powerful. Till now I managed to push some people to eat more healthy and only one to lfrv.
Why can't I see this on the news tonight? "Breaking news: A diet that keeps you 100% healthy with clear practical evidence supported by science" Instead I see all kind of...
I'm also for a poll, and maybe to be published somewhere...
