30 Bananas a Day!

Hey everyone! I wanted to know what kind of detox symptoms you've experienced on raw till 4pm. I've been getting some of the worst migraines I've ever had and I've been treating them with lavender oil and pure willpower to say the least. Have any of you experienced these mind-bending migraines? Also, I recently stopped drinking coffee. I've been off it now for about 3, maybe 4 days now. I've always been a huge coffee person - but the kind that just takes their coffee black with no sugar. Is coffee a total no-go when raw? Why is it bad for you? It's so hard for me to get up in the morning without that single cup. Last question. Have any of you experienced (this is a little embarrassing) anal fissures from going so much? It literally hurts to go now! I hope these aren't isolated symptoms here. Anyway, I'd love to get some feedback from you guys.

I think your migraines are being caused by caffeine withdrawal. Coffee is not accepted here because it is a sure fire way to ruin your adrenals. If you "need" coffee, you are needing energy. There is no reason to drink coffee if you are getting enough ENERGY from a high calorie fruit breakfast.

It might be coffee detox:

I concur that coffee withdrawal equates with caffeine withdrawal, and even if caffeine free coffee, that may be other compounds your brain has been chemically addicted too.

Unfortunately, for some people, going off coffee produces similar symptoms such as the dope sickness some heroin addicts experience during withdrawals and headaches, migraines, nausea are a part of it.  That in itself is a clue its not good for us.

The good news is that coffee withdrawal can last from 1-7 days, and you are already 3-4 days in.  If coffee is your problems, then may be by tomorrow you might feel better.

I was on and off coffee much of my life, but the last time I went off, I had little side effects eating low fat and fruity.  I made sure I was fully hydrated, and eating oranges almost exclusively helped.  Oranges have natural painrelievers, the vitamin C will help, and have similar compounds such as caffeine without the addictive properties and can help with pain.

I concur with others that coffee is not very healthy for us and depending on the person, can cause short term and long term side effects such as addiction and withdrawal symptoms, to changing brain chemicals, anxiety and agitation,  to blood pressure and cardiovascular issues including increasing cholesterol,  to insulin problems, to providing false energy for the body interfering with our ATP energy process.  This can actually lead to weight gain in some sensitive individuals.

With coffee, I recommend the better safe than sorry approach, and avoid it all together.  Need energy?  Increase calories and carbs and nutrients from natural whole ripe plant foods.

Fissures:

If you have any anal or rectal bleeding, or a doubt about a fissure, I recommend seeing a doctor asap to rule out any problems.  These are often preexisting problems, and not something we can diagnose or fix over the web.

If you do have a fissure, first I am sorry, they do tend to be annoying or painful.

But also, the good news is that you can focus on a diet high in soluble fiber and whole ripe fruits until it gets better.  Nuts and seeds might irritate it if you cannot digest them well.  But you can add them back into the diet once you are healed.

Starchy foods can cause constipation in some people and or aggravate a fissure.  I recommend avoid pasta, bread, and processed foods like cakes, cookies, and pies.  Steamed or baked potatoes might be ok.

Make sure you are getting enough water and peeing clear.  It is much easier to digest plant foods on a hydrated system.

  • Daily Recipe for Long Term Success
  • Minimum Calories: Females: 2500 Males: 3000
  • Whole, raw, ripe plant foods. (ie RT4: Steam potatoes: not a bag of chips.)
  •  ½-2 heads of lettuce greens.  (Not high oxalate kale, chard, and spinach.)
  • Get a palm of raw nuts or seeds.
  • Low fat: not no fat! (5-10% of calories average)
  • Simple meals. Rotate foods for maximum nutrient exposure.
  • Drink enough water. Urinate (almost) clear.
  • Early nights with 8-12 hours for rest, repairs, and muscle fat burning.  Get some zzz time before midnight.
  • Exercise and resist gravity 30 minutes.
  • Sunbathe 30 minutes for vitamin D and healthy bones and teeth.
  • Lower stress triggers.  Stress releases weight gain hormones.

Also, if you do not mind sharing, what do your poopies look like?

I got a migraine during my first week of RT4. I don't drink coffee so I know it wasn't caffeine related. It sounds like your migraine headaches may be a result of many things. Mine always are too.

I quit coffee in March. I only drank 2 cups a day and always black. My first week of detox was awful. My whole body ached. My legs hurt so bad I couldn't sleep at night. I was a bear to live with. But it didn't last long and I don't regret giving it up. Every time I am tempted by a hot cup of coffee all I have to do is think of that horrible week of detox.

Hope this helps.

I have seen a few people who have a history of migraines say that when they went all raw they got some major migraines.  This is a form of  the retracing phenomena, where you have symptoms of dis-ease as you heal up from the old dis-ease.   But I have not heard this from anyone going on rawtil4 which is slower detox and healing so I think it is most likely from you quitting coffee.  Do you have a history of migraines? If so that can make it much more likely you will get one in such circumstances as detox or withdrawal from coffee.  The last time I quit my one cup a day coffee habit I had a mild headache for 3+ weeks!  I was shocked as I never get headaches ever and could hardly believe it lasted that long.  There are several really good posts and threads on coffee addiction that might help you be determined to kick the habit.  Do use the search bar on the right to find more  but here are a few:
