30 Bananas a Day!

Hi, I've been doing the vegan thing since March, although I was previously a vegetarian. I have no vegan friends and generally most of my friends think I'm crazy for living off juices and smoothies! I'm hoping someone might be happy to lend a bit of advice every now and then.
I'm also struggling finding vegan (cruelty free) products for the sort of stuff you use every day without really thinking about like washing up liquid, shampoo etc. I'm in the UK and hoping someone might be able to tell me where to find stuff here.
Thank you!

That's really sweet of you, thanks I definitely will. I have so many questions throughout the day. What do you do about beauty/ household products? Also, things like is almond milk ok? Avocados?
Sorry to be a pain! Thank you!

Sorry no suggestions about beauty stuff. Avocados are ok on this site as long as your fat % averaged out is no greater than 10%. If you don't use cronometer...thats a good move for you.

+1

if you mean eating, Catherine.

Avos also make a nice conditioner for hair.

As far as almond milk goes, the store varieties are all cooked and usually contain strange ingredients.

But you can always make your own in a powerful blender.

Beauty tip:  purchase and use a vegan skin brush.  Great for gentle exfoliation and moving lymph.

Hey I can give you all the advice you need! Shop in The Body Shop, Lush, Superdrug (a lot of their stuff is cruelty free). Also: https://www.ecco-verde.com/   this online store is AMAZING. Ask me as many questions as you like :)

Hi Catherine, I am based in London so maybe can help you answer some questions. :)

Sure its not easy cause it requires effort but it is possible. I buy my beauty products in Holland & Barrett (they have an organic shampoo and conditioner range which is vegan and cruelty free-Dr. Organic) and/or Wholefoods where they have loads more cosmetics. I also used products from LUSH, they have great facial/body scrubs and moisturisers. I also got some stuff from Faith in Nature-through their website. Hope this helps :) Get in touch if you have any other questions!

This has been really useful, I've had a very happy online shop at Holland And Barrett.... Bath is not so far away for me and they have a big Lush and H & B so I'm planning a trip down to check it all out. Thank you so much for your reply. :-)
Oh that's brilliant! Thank you so much! I love Etsy. I think the products definitely are out there, it just takes a bit more work to find them!

Here is a list of companies that DO NOT test on animals...

People fear what they do not understand.  I do not know any other vegans or raw vegans except for this website.
Yes, it is hard, but you have to remember, nobody is tougher than you! I f you ever find yourself wanting to give up... think of the animals, think of the environment, think of the rest of the humans on this earth ever.  Yes, it is frustrating, but it is hard to give up on those around you while it is easy to give up on yourself.

Thank you so much! That is really useful. It's amazing how few names I recognise on the list of companies that don't test on animals and yet I recognise most of the ones on the list that do! It's scary....
I really appreciate you getting back to me and thanks for the lists!

I use to struggle with the same thing in fact I still do time to time. I find what helps is be strong in your footing and it just doesnt matter what your friends think. Just be yourself and spread your joyness...Next time bring over a watermelon to share or something idk. Like I said I used to REALLY struggle with...felt like there was someting wrong with me but once I really began to embrace the lifestyle and own who I was, I was free to be anyone I liked. Quite a beautiful feeling.

Dr. Bronners is great soap, dont know if they have it in the UK but you can order it online. Also sodium bicarbonate is excellent, cleaned my whole house with that stuff. Clean untoxic good energy houses make me happy, my roommate doesnt understand.

Thank you! I guess I've just got to get used to not being invited to dinner parties any more! I haven't found Dr Bronners in the UK yet but I'm getting there on sourcing products. Sodium bicarbonate.... Is that baking soda?
