Nearly through day four of strictly 100% raw fruits and veggies, and while I'm feeling good overall, I'm experiencing hunger off and on during the day.
I feel like I have to eat, and could eat, nearly constantly to ward of hunger pangs.
What do your meals look like? How many calories a day do you consume?
Hunger shouldn't be an issue unless if somehow you are cofusing it with cooked food cravings.
When you eat strictly fruits and veg, it's much different than what most people are used to. Raw plant foods are not as calorie dense and contain more fiber, filling your stomach up a bit faster (thankfully, bowel movements are much faster too, because of the fiber and water content). You might have to eat bigger volume and/or more high carb calorie dense fruits like bananas, dates, mangoes (if you can find good mangoes), etc...
meals are small, a banana or a fruit mix, ie grapes, cantaloupe, carrots, celery, strawberries.
I love the food, but to be honest, four days in and a fews slices of veggie pizza or a big fat rice, bean and avocado burrito sounds pretty tasty.
I'm not intentionally calorie restricting, fyi.
Thanks for any input.
a banana? no wonder you are hungry! try 10 bananas in a meal and see how you feel.
I agree with Jennie, you have got to eat more. When you start this lifestyle, you can't go on a whim ("eat some of that, a bit of that" and so on), you have to be a bit more objective with what you are doing. 30BAD strongly advises a minimum of 2500+ calories a day for women and 3000+ calories a day for men. To know whether you reach your minimum, as a newbie, sometimes, you can use cronometer.com
Once you get more and more accustomed to the lifestyle, gradually you won't find it as useful.
Now, different people like to approach the quantity of eating differently. Some graze throughout the day to stay satisfied and satiated (mostly to not feel too full at once) OR have big satisfying meals ( and A banana or A fruitmix, that somehow involves vegetables, is not satiating to your body's energy needs) like a 10 banana smoothie with some dates or something. More calorie dense high carb fruit you eat, less valume you have to consume if that is a concern.
Yeah this sucks, and it can definitely happen. The hard thing for our bodies to accept about being raw is how water dense the foods are. I'll have a bag of celery (maybe 5 calories, haha don't know. definitely next to nothing) and feel really full, and remember how I could go for 3 slices of pizza in the past. Which is super weird to think about. From what I'm reading though, You're definitely not eating enough. Come to think of it, I'm hungry right now and I ate 30 minutes ago. This is normal, you have to eat as much as you can as often as you can when you first start. I'm gona branch out here and reccommend calorie dense foods like nuts (CASHEWS) and DATES:) Remember, a full salad is a whole head of lettuce, and eating can take forever lol. here are some cool recipes by the way that are filling, (Megan is cool , worth checking it out)
