As long as you are eating low fat* and drinking plenty of water and getting enough sleep, people seem to be able to eat as much fruit as they want, including dates, and remain a healthy weight. There may be other factors for you personally so you might want to test it out for yourself and see if your weight changes eating them. Just be careful to rinse or brush and floss after eating them because they really stick to the teeth.
*Eating omega 3 fats in higher amounts may not result in weight gain according to Dr. Brooke Goldner. She says the research on low fat vs high fat was done with omega 6 fats vs. low fat and that there has not been much research omega 3 fats.
